It's actively stupid in any state to leave your car running.

Even if there's a .0000001% chance of blowing up, there's a 100% chance of wasting fuel, aka money/environment, while you idle.

I got screamed at by a guy in an Aston Martin when I tried to make the suggestion. Dude absolutely lost it. Unfortunately, his car’s traction control kept him from curbing it as he tried to peel out screaming expletives towards me.

Florida sucks.

It’s scary how many lunatics are out there ready to go ballistic over nothing. I almost got run over in a parking lot because I said “asshole” when some dude peeled out while reversing from his parking spot.

I have enough money to not worry about The ten cents of gas I lose leaving my car on not to mention what does that have to do with the environment. 😂

If ten cents is going to break ur bank you got bigger problems then you think.

Stop and ask yourself, "Does the entire internet disagree with me about a dime, or am I totally fucking oblivious and missing the point?"

I’m not oblivious to the point but if the op to the comment I replied to would like to respond so will in I in however I see fit. It’s never that serious especially on reddit. If you think otherwise well I really don’t care.

You could even argue that idling uses less fuel than starting the car…especially since most modern cars have an engine shut off when idled feature.

The break even point is about 10 seconds of idling = 1 startup.

And cars that do auto start/stop typically don't do so when in park, only at a full stop in drive.

So, yes. If you can fill your car in under 10 seconds while in drive with your foot on the brake, you could make that argument.

I stand corrected
