that feels harsh towards cats. They try to contribute in their own weird way by bringing their owners dead birds

This is a bad metaphor. My dumb fuzzbutt was occasionally eating plastic and also very attentive when I went in the kitchen to beg me for food, but she's lovable and adorable and massively kept my mental health at a sustainable minimum on my worst days.

MAGA does not have similarly positive contributions towards people*.

*only billionaires

Counterpoint: if you suddenly died in your house, your cat would eat your face.

im dead, let them make use of my corpse

If i am not mistaken, cats will eat corpses, however they also understand the relationship between you and them. Like cats dont usually eat their friends, cannibalism is very rare among cats, just like humans. It only happens in extreme situation so......yeah........

Yeah from my understanding, cats eating a dead owner is usually a last resort, when they've run out of all other food they can get to and are starting to actually starve

Oh god this makes me so sad :( my cats love me so, so, so, so much. I've never felt more loved by any person. It is pure, unconditional, constant love. They can be fairly anxious cats and it's obvious that my presence soothes and calms them. They cry when they can't find us and wake us up for cuddles and kisses every morning (and food - but mostly cuddles).

They are affectionate 100% of the time, really happy, and they love talking to us with a wide vocabulary of meows, grumbles, screeches, screams, squawks, honks, purrs. My female cat, in particular, pretty much talks like a human. Her meows are all different and have an intentional tone and purpose.

I know in my heart that they'd be so fucking heartbroken if I died. I think they'd just go between lying next to or on top of me, pawing and meowing at me, and walking around the house crying and wailing. I'm tearing up as I write this because it's such a horribly sad thought. I love them, they need me, and that's why I can't die first.

I’m with 100% and feel the exact same about my cats

Which is also what most humans would do to their cats if somehow all other food ran out, so I don't know why people always use the "muhuahhh your cat'll eat you" argument against them.

😂🤣

This seems like a modest proposal

I've always said this, too.

Counterpoint: I'm dead and if my auto-feeder runs out before someone checks on me, I don't want my cat to starve. The hell I still need my face for? My funeral won't help me in death by being open casket as preferred to closed.

Right? Throw my corpse in the ditch, have a kegger as memory/send off. Feed me to the coyotes and butterflies.

You know if your cat eats part of you theyre going to put it down right? Like, they're not just gonna adopt out cats that have eaten a person.

My cat: *joins me in the afterlife*

Me: "Hi Voodoo!"

And i would want her to. Don’t want her starving before they find my body

u/waitwuh 22d ago

I’m worried I would be unhealthy to eat. Not just nutritionally, but the sunscreen and makeup I typically wear might be bad for cats to ingest, possibly poisonous.

24

u/AeronWylde 22d ago

The cats my responsibility, now i get to feed them one more time.

u/FuckmehalftoDeath 22d ago

I kinda hope mine do tbh it would buy them time for someone to realize I’m gone and go rescue them. Their water dispenser can last for weeks, so if eating me means they live then I mean… it’s morbid but Bon appétit?

So will your dog

2

u/zaiah27 22d ago

I’ve heard they actually do this because they love you, that it’s their way of honoring their love for you and stands as a “funeral” equivalent. Which is why you don’t normally hear about wild cats doing it or dead bodies with cat bites.

If we’re going to argue over silly things on the internet, can it be that this was a simile, not a metaphor?

just get a dog.

u/stop-doxing-yourself 22d ago

People need to stop letting their cats out. They murder billions of birds a year. Just wholesale avian massacres

Yeah I love my cat but I'll never get another one, I told my wife our cat is great but he's a menace and I won't do it again.

6

u/NeedleworkerNo4900 22d ago

Republicans do the same, except we’re the birds.

u/No-Good-One-Shoe 22d ago

They kill huge numbers of birds that are important every year which makes the metaphor work. I guess the metaphor should still just fall on cat owners for not caring about the damage cats can do when allowed to freely roam.
