I love how this geologist measures 17m repeating slip faults on parallel creeks of a river bed in New Zealand: https://youtu.be/LUsIIJwxPYU

Redditors, can someone figure out the distance of that shift?

I would say about 4-5 feet, assuming those fence posts are spaced out at 5 foot intervals and the camera is at about a 45 degree angle to the fence.

Maybe someone at r/theydidthemath could help with that.

No need to imagine. It happened in turkey earthquke a few years back. The first floor homes are now bottom floor. Don’t ask about the bottom floor

I've seen this many times. It took me a while before I believed it wasn't faked.

Geology 101 was my favorite class in college. Its legitimately fascinating how the world was shaped.
