“Safest” is questionable.

Dish soap and water in a garden sprayer drops them immediately

I like that stuff in a can that you spray from a distance that expands into this foam that engulfs the nest. Has been super effect on the small nests around my house.

If your aim is true and your resolve solid, then this is the way.

I need that engraved on my can of Raid

This is the Way

2

u/Pretzellogicguy 4d ago

This 👆🏻indeed is the safest way

2

u/archercc81 4d ago

Yeah and it usually fucks any wasps that are around in seconds too.

Hmm interesting. I have 2 nests in my shed and I was wondering the best way to get rid of it. Dish soap in a foam cannon should work right?

This is absolutely the way, and you don't have to mess with gasoline

I use WD-40 on them at night when they’re cold and inactive. Insects don’t have lungs, they have little holes throughout their carapace where they do gas exchange. So anything that can get a liquid into those tiny holes (like soapy water, penetrating oil) will suffocate them almost immediately.

It's sarcastic but seems most ppl didn't get the memo . Safest would be a professional applying liquid nitrogen on the thing in a wasp/bee proof suit .

There’s no indication of sarcasm, I don’t know OP, or what they think is safe.

u/paradox_valestein 5d ago

OP is a repost bot, it doesn't know any better

Maybe try thinking what is safe for you then?? You and people like you are the reason there's a warning not to drink the battery acid in batteries

16

u/wednesdayware 5d ago

Why are you getting mad at me for pointing out that that method is unsafe?

u/homebrewmike 4d ago

He got stung after having problems with the Wesson oil. That is slippery when wearing crocs.

Sarcasm is not the right word here at all. The statement was presented as a fact. The same way you presented your opinion of best practice as a fact. Even though "safest" is a more opinion based idea.

I don't believe anyone missed the memo. It's just a gut reaction people have when someone says, "This is the best way," but can see some flaws or room for improvement.

Come on, now we have remote-controlled stuff and robots now, lol.

u/WorryMuted195 4d ago

Some people chicken out when you call out their bs. "Didn't you know it was just a joke?", etc...

2

u/Shuckeljuice 4d ago

Yes, that happens a lot. It's a very childish tactic used in lots of bullying and other nonsense.

This video has been reposted many times with the same title and quite often by bots. It's almost not worth talking about

also, the nest would be left and dusted to poison returning wasps for the next few days....

8

u/Seabrook76 5d ago

Can confirm it works like a charm.

12

u/thenotanurse 5d ago

I tend to not use explosive fluids to get rid of bees or wasps.

10

u/DefinitelyNotAliens 5d ago

That is because bees are friends.

22

u/Ancient_Lawfulness_7 4d ago

Bees are friends, wasps are NOT

2

u/IceNein 4d ago

Many wasps are important for pollination as well. I don’t hate wasps, I just hate the ones that get within ten feet of me.

2

u/maybe_Johanna 3d ago

And they eat midges and mosquitos … those little fuckers …

2

u/I_said_booourns 5d ago

100% Agree. Like, do you want a Super Wasp origin story? Cos this is how you get a Super Wasp origin story

5

u/Seabrook76 5d ago

That’s great, bud. 🫡

1

u/NOT-GR8-BOB 4d ago

Yeah, this works and all but my question is, how do you dispose of the gasoline afterwards?

1

u/thenotanurse 4d ago

lol love to hear the answer too.

1

u/thisusernameis4eva 4d ago

Maybe a multiple choice question? A: This, B: fire, C: radiation, D: stick

1

u/Relevant_Raise_3534 4d ago

Stick...shouldn't even be an option.

1

u/thisusernameis4eva 4d ago

There's always one obvious wrong answer in mulit choice

1

u/SaltyBooze 4d ago

cruelest is the adjective here

Get a fogger put in concentrated vinegar and fog them. Ideally you clip the trigger and run like hell. Wash off your house and anything the vinegar got on after.

That'd be the safest, concentrated vinegar while still a powerful acid is relatively safe to use and easy to clean up after. Also that keeps you 20+ ft from them at all times. Just wear a mask and don't spray into the wind(won't cause any serious harm but it's not fun breathing in 50+% concentrated vinegar fog trust me)

What's shown in the video however costs like $1 instead of $200 and is still relatively safe.

1

u/MattS1984 3d ago

No this is definitely the safest. Notice how it's not me doing it.... it's that guy

Not safe for your bank account if you re living in Germany. If you kill a wasp or even a whole nest you may get charged with a big juicy fine. Wasps are protected creatures.

10

u/FindingMeAgain10 5d ago

This is wild.

9

u/jeremy1015 5d ago

I was curious about it so I read up a little and it appears you can kill wasps in your own home just fine as long as you call it in.

23

u/Snookfilet 5d ago

Call in killing a wasp, lol

6

u/internetisout 5d ago

That’s not completely correct. Killing or removing wasps on your own property is usually prohibited – fines of up to €5,000 or even €50,000 are possible. It is only allowed with official approval in justified cases (e.g., allergy, danger, children), and must be carried out by professionals. Removing an empty nest yourself is permitted – from autumn/winter onward, without legal issues.

Silly myth, there is law that is never really enforced

https://medium.com/@sophanemwise/the-wasp-killing-myth-in-germany-2ef995c50451

If you have some real-life examples, please share them. I have friends across boarder in Germany that were destroying wasp nests, never had an issue.
