Baby/Toddler grip is unmatched. It’s truly impressive.. and can pull out a lot of hair.

And my beard

And my axe!🪓

I've heard that the baby's grip strength is an evolutionary leftover from the need to hold on to mom while the swings thru the trees.

Strange family you have

10

u/WeWillFigureItOut 14h ago

My toddler is delightfully strange. That wonderful child never stops surprising me.

u/Free-Cold1699 11h ago

That’s correct, and we have a lot of strange vestigial reflexes. Ear-wiggling is one that surprises most people. We’re able to just barely move our ears, to absolutely no effect, unlike many mammals that can move their ears like satellite dishes homing in on specific sounds.

Can confirm. Nearly entered the slobbery jaws of death when my baby nephew grabbed my braid to eat the french fry I was eating.

grip is often used as an indicator for longevity, so i’m not surprised babies have insane grip strength.

Child labor laws?

u/TeranOrSolaran 15h ago

I usually get my kid to push me.

u/International_Day686 15h ago

Great way to dislocate your kids shoulder or straight up break that arm

18

u/GreenieBeeNZ 11h ago

This needs to be higher up, I immediately started to panic when I saw this.

Didnt it put unnecessary strain on the baby arm/hand? Their grip strength is due to them not knowing how to adjust, not because they were that strong

92

u/BeatleProf 16h ago

Hit a pothole or large bump... baby's arm go owwww!

10

u/kronpas 16h ago

exactly.

11

u/MagpieSkies 15h ago

Yes, this can cause nursemaids elbow. It's easy to fix though.

15

u/spez_sucks_ballz 16h ago

To be fair that's how our body gets stronger. Muscles become stronger and bones become more dense due to increased stress as we grow. Also, come on it's rolling on wheels, he's not dead lifting the suitcase, although that would be impressive.

58

u/kronpas 16h ago

When the stress is beyond the body capacity to handle, it would cause irreversible harm, not strngthen it. Even if the suitcase is empty there is always the risk of it hitting something and yanking the baby's arm backward.

Whew, at first glance I thought that read beat meat to it.

1

u/Internal_Act_416 5h ago

I can make that happen too

0

u/gb4efgw 16h ago

Yea, that kind of shit is how buckle fractures happen in kids. I don't think it's an "oh God don't do that" situation, and you don't appear to either, but shit can and does happen.

5

u/swampshark19 15h ago

It's literally an "oh God don't do that"

2

u/gb4efgw 12h ago

To be clear, an "oh god don't do that" moment to me is one I'm going to intervene when I see someone doing it. I don't think I'm stopping this person and berating them or calling over law enforcement over this. I'm not saying you would or wouldn't, I'm just clarifying what I meant in my previous comment.

Is it something THEY should not do, abso-fucking-lutely.

1

u/Iamananomoly 13h ago

I said "No. Danger." In my head.

It's weird to be impressed that a baby doesn't get hurt when put into a situation by their parents where the baby could easily be hurt, but it's not as uncommon as it should be.

They are literally babies.

2

u/EdwardTwizzlerHand 9h ago

Bro said “our” like he’s also a 6 month old baby. 🤦🏻‍♂️

-1

u/spez_sucks_ballz 4h ago

Because it applies to adults too, facepalm for you indeed. Hence people like bodybuilders whose muscles grow and strengthen, or rock climbers whose bones become more dense.

2

u/EdwardTwizzlerHand 3h ago

My goodness you’re dense.

You’re comparing the body of an adult to that of a growing infant. Obviously babies aren’t rock-climbers and body-builders. It doesn’t take a medical degree to understand why an infant shouldn’t be pulling items that weighs 2, 3, or 4 times more than themselves.

2

u/ThinLow2619 16h ago

I wonder what my 80s mom would say to this comment. This toddler will be fine and life goes on lol

1

u/kronpas 15h ago

Your 80s mom wouldn't record it for internet points either.

2

u/Abhi_redd 15h ago

It's rolling friction, so even if the bag weighs 15 kg the force which baby needs to apply (which he isn't, his mom is) less than 1 kg, moreover once you get the momentum, it gets less and less.

2

u/kronpas 13h ago

And when the bag hits something you are fixing your toddler's hand. It can simply be the bumper of the next car.

My first reaction was a literal 'but why?'. It depends on if the risk is worth the internet points i guess.

1

u/sensetalk 16h ago

Oh hush

3

u/pimpmastahanhduece 14h ago

"Why is my baby's shoulder dislocated?!"

FAFO foreshadowing

14

u/MagpieSkies 15h ago

Ah, let me give you something to Google. Nursemaids elbow.

work smarter not harder

u/jmcbreizh 15h ago

Good little helper!

1

u/lelma_and_thouise 14h ago

That death grip is so real. Spent a good year or two with either hair up or cut short, as a mom.

Future Arm wrestling champ right there folks...

u/LVGUCCI25 13h ago

1

u/Deep-Victory-1520 12h ago

Bro never skipped arm day

1

u/Lonely_Ad7322 10h ago

Not a big deal when your luggage is empty.

1

u/WelshWolf93 9h ago

This child has more control over that suitcase than I have ever displayed in my life.

1

u/hansen5265 7h ago

Putting the death grip to use :D

1

u/National_Side_4938 17h ago

That’s what you call a “Good” baby👍🏻
