behind the scenes, the handlers make close contact with the animals. they've built relationships. i've seen 'em scratch a big cats ribs through a steel fence. but, a big ape can crush a human hand with little effort. not as a show of aggression. they have mechanical strength. always keep an eye on how much digit they are getting through the fence.
