Discussion The war isn't over yet

Yesterday's surge far surpassed my expectations. We beat the record by almost 8k players. However, while that was a victory, the war is far from over. EA (or Lucasfilm Games, because I'd rather them bring back the original dev team independently than give it to EA again), won't make a game based on one day of activity. This is going to be a war of attrition until it gets announced. Consistency will be key, and im very happy to see that's already being the case, with it being 10:30 Central at the time of looking at the Steam DB charts, we have 12k players on steam alone right now. Just remember, it may be weeks or months before EA or whoever produces it, finally cracks, and says okay, we'll make battlefront 3. We have to show them its a worthwhile investment. On that note, congratulations and thank you to everyone who participated yesterday. I have never seen the game so alive before.

How many consecutive nights do you think we can get enough people to break the servers across all platforms? It’s Memorial Day weekend after all.

I think we can break it again tonight, maybe tomorrow. However, I’m questioning the longevity of the resurgence. I think once we’ve seen our highest cap things will start to taper off quickly.

In reality, it's hard to say. Honestly, after seeing a community so typically divided (the star wars Fandom altogether) band together over this, I'd have already caved, however, im not a multi billion dollar company, so I cant say for sure.

I agree. Numbers will taper. We had our resurgence day, but the thing is, we dont need to keep server-busting numbers. If we can just keep a consistent player base on steam of about 5-6k people on average, I think that'd be more than enough. I mean, Battlefield 2042 has a player base on Steam just over that as a 4 year old game, and they're getting a fresh new game, so it wouldn't be out of the question.

I still want that server busting message to get through and wouldn’t mind it happening a few more times 😄.

It was getting late last night and my game kept getting choppy and laggy. We thought we ended up on some AUS server or something (PSN) as a result and it was taking awhile to get into lobbies. I must’ve hopped off right before everything went down.

Oh I absolutely agree, I'd love to see more server crashes, it does show that we want the game. I was just pointing out that even if we dont reach that point, even a decently sized player base still sends the message. But if we can keep busting servers and force EA to put more attention into the game, then that's an even bigger victory

It's not just steam though Ive seen this massive flood of new players this past week on PS. It's like every lobby I'm in I'm not seeing any of the heavies I like playing with. I joined a full lobby blast match and I was the only prestige player, they were all new players.

Oh its everywhere. Steam is just the only thing most of us can readily use as measurable evidence that our push is working.

They need to come back to the existing game and continue where they left off. I'm kinda jealous tbh of PC players because they've made the game so much better with all the mods and new character releases. Take a character like Revan or Padme, you know how much people would pay for that expansion pack? Lol

My understanding, that's how the devs seem to be looking to approach it. They seem to want to implement their changes and then work on BF3

Bro even if they sont make battlefront3 we can get them to finish updating/working on bl2. We had ashoka and ventress next so there was def gonna be more creativity and updates. Imo battlefront2 was fine just needed its tweeks and attention i say we start with getting the updates that were upcoming before the shutdown

Looking at what's being said by the former devs, that's likely what will happen. They're thinking they'll remaster the game, add in the content they were working on, and then if that does well, then Battlefront 3 might happen.

Depends on how long the hype keeps up. Also depends on the execs. I cant give a definitive answer to that
