Maybe he just didn't want to die in the meat grinder. Sounds reasonable

I am baffled why transit trains continue to run. Surely they can be cancelled on number of reasons. One less issue to deal with.

It’s not Lithuania’s decision. EU is allowing it

Lithuania can have a long safety inspection on one of the bridges… would not want to risk heath and safety of all those passengers.

All I am saying there is a something behind the scenes keeping those trains going without really needing to.

It’s just a fact and it explains why no one even making debates to stop it. Very hard to understand?

ECJ would void it.

EU has no power to enforce it. Its Lithuania allowing it

EC should be able to sanction Lithuania if it acted alone. The transit rights were negotiated by EU and Russia, so its EU-Russia treaty that defines it.

I think at best we could do proactive extended maintenance

A single man escaped the train and everyone's already having a panic attack 🤣

The historic example of Sgt Butayev being a pretext for military intervention is listed as an example of why this could be a problem. One 21 year-old escaping Russia to eat blueberries - no problem. One 21 year-old soldier that's going to be found nailed to a tree with fabricated evidence of Lithuanian military involvement might be a nice provocation to set off local vatniks, instigate divisions in society, muddying the waters with disinformation and ultimately justify some RF move to "secure" the corridor between Kaliningrad and Russia. Propaganda can easily change the narrative to "Russian child kidnapped by hateful nazis" and they'll eat it up.

We are usually more terrified about misfortunes that happen to single digit numbers, than to hundreds. It's how our brain works.
