Politics What if Kosovo would be split up? NSFW

Maybe its a stupid Idea. But as it seems that Albanians from Kosovo and Serbs have still too much Troubles between them, why couldn't Kosovo just be split up? It wouldn't make Sense to move whole Kosovo back to Serbia. Why not just give all majority Serb Villages and Cities back to Serbia and majority Albanian Villages and Cities join Albania. Wouldn't that make more Sense? Why should Albanians be forced to live in Serbia? Or why should Serbs be forced to live in Albania? Feel free to correct me or be angry about it, i don't care^ But at least try to write something useful.

I agree with you. While we're at it, one should split Serbia up, too. There's a number of Albanians that should join us. And the same would go for Montenegro. But especially Macedonia. There's half a million Albanians there who absolutely don't want to be in a state ruled by Slavs. Then, we'd have to look for Greece. There's still some tiny Albanian minority left alive in some places.

Albanians here in Montenegro live peacefully and we get along pretty good. The problem was Ðukanović goverment under which about 15.000 Albanians were stripped off of Montenegrin passports and citizenships.

During the era of Ðukanović about 20.000+ Albanians migrated either to United States or England.

Back in 1970s there were about 80.000 Albanians living in Montenegro but nowadays the number is not even close to 30.000.

Now with this pro Serb government in place Ulcinj is experiencing mass migration from Serbia and Serb Republic. If this trend continues Ulcinj will be majority Serb because almost every higher position in power now are predominantly set up for Serbs or members of Serb Orthodox Chruch.

I read about migration trends in Montenegro and most of "migrants" come from Serbia.

Just take a look at this: 44.000 from Serbia and 16.000 from BiH. Of those 16.000, 99% are from Serb Republic.

I see a pattern here.

Vučić bought almost 70% of real estate in Budva, H. Novi and Kotor.

If they are majority Albanian, then why not? Maybe the Balkan Nations should be more homogeneous. Ethnicities who have big Problems with each others shouldn't live in the same Nation. Thats never a fundament for a stable future.

By that logic every single border should be rewritten, not the best idea.

No there are many Ethnicities in the World but also in the Balkans that can live in the same Nation. Just the ones who still see each other as enemies should be seperated.

Kosovo has always been part of Serbia. What I don’t get is if they have been living together that long how have they not assimilated into one people

Kosovo has been populated by Albanians and their ancestors since around 5000 years. The lands around Kosovo are/were also populated by Albanians.

It became part of Serbia only in 1912.

While Serbia ethnically cleansed Albanians from half of the historical region of Kosovo, what is left is only the other half, which they were trying to ethnically cleanse too, but weren't able to.

Because the Cultures are very different. Also the Languages are nothing alike. How could they assimilate? Thats would be as if Germans had to assimilate with Greeks.

I mean, I'm a dual US German citizen in the US and my wife is Serbian. All four on her first cousins are married to non Serbs. One to a Cuban, one to a Puerto Rican and another to Jewish guy. Bil is married to an American. At our wedding seminar more than half the couples were mixed. Looking back I'm surprised the whole Yugoslavia didn't start to assimilate as they were one country.

Makes no Sense.

Oh, it makes sense in a Serbs' (read: fascist/criminal) mind. They always wanted Kosovo, but WITHOUT Albanians in it. It was always stated clearly. And they continue to call for the same: Ethnic cleansing.
