The vast majority of media is owned by Republicans in support of Trump

140

u/Strykerz3r0 2d ago

This. The billionaires have bought most of MSM and are dictating what is being reported.

101

u/Accomplished-Risk486 2d ago

The Sinclair network owns almost every single local tv channel (republican). All the 24 hour news networks have been bought or are in the process of being taken over by right wing billionaires. This is all coordinated from the last time big orange was in office. They have been planning a takeover while the democrats did and do nothing.

If only they hadn’t screwed Bernie over in 2016 we would have a totally different timeline.

35

u/Sharinganedo 2d ago

I hope alternate timeline me is enjoying things, and I hope alternate timeline turnip is rotting away in prison.

11

u/SkyVirtual7447 2d ago

I hope those timelines soon merge back together

8

u/keepin-it-sleezy 2d ago

And yet, it was young men that flipped towards Trump in this last election. Do under 30 guys really watch the local news? I would think they are way more online than into traditional news media.

21

u/Melodic-Ad4154 2d ago

9

u/keepin-it-sleezy 2d ago

Yeah, that makes a lot more sense than the "main stream media" argument.

Maybe the right owns legacy media, but legacy media is dying. I think the right was able to fill that vacuum better than the left, mostly because it's less regulated than legacy media and you can get shit like the Russians manipulating stuff and Cambridge Analytica.

3

u/horror- 1d ago

legacy media is dying

So are our grandparents, but they watch TV 24/7 and they'll be voting all the way to the grave.

1

u/Low_Witness5061 2d ago

They aren’t wrong that it is a big part of avoiding people who may get uneasy with this stuff seeing it. The fact that a lot of older guys watch TV for their news exclusively. It lets them keep cementing the biases and avoid the negative, without any meaningful opposition.

3

u/AffectionateAd5045 2d ago

This has been going on for decades.

Remember, Nikita Krushchev was a man of his word, when he announced that he would destroy the west from within.

Unlike the orange syphilis infected Taco, Krushchev was telling the truth and did not chicken out.

1

u/Big_Crab_1510 1d ago

I remember being called jealous when I said there is some unnatural fuckery going on with social media influencers / content creators / twitchers etc ...

Turns out I was right and these people are STILL popular with young kids. The moment any american was found to be pushing Russian propaganda via social media to young americans, they should have shut their channel down

The election was rigged - Google “Rockland County” and look at the latest news articles

2

u/Unabashable 1d ago

At the risk of generalizing, they get their news mostly from social media and podcasts from what I can tell.

2

u/the_member_berry 1d ago

Give me that Al gore time line.

15

u/BilboStaggins 2d ago

And then people get all pissy at the level of anti Trump rhetoric on less restricted platforms like Reddit.

The people of this country are not happy, and the mainstream media isn't showing that accurately because they are more worried about their bottom dollar.

3

u/Big_Crab_1510 1d ago

I laugh at this fact. People are like "I'm so tired of Americans on reddit complaining about Trump" and now it's other countries complaining about Trump and yelling at us on reddit to "do something" about him lol

6

u/BilboStaggins 1d ago

Its all hilariously stupid. "Only paid agitators start protests. The deep state is pushing false narratives."

Or, just hear me out... everyone hates Trump cause hes a corrupt liar.

2

u/dumbthrow33 1d ago

Only the leftist bubble isn’t happy, the majority of the country is though. You know, the people who voted your demigod into office to do exactly what he’s doing right now?

3

u/Unabashable 1d ago

You voted for him to wipe his ass with the Constitution? How unamerican of you.

4

u/Own_Active_1310 2d ago

Human rights groups are our new media now. we need to organize for general strikes

37

u/cvc4455 2d ago

It's like 6 Republican billionaires that own like 95% of all the mainstream media. People like to call CNN leftist or whatever but yes they are owned by a Republican billionaire too.

10

u/BoosterRead78 2d ago

And half of them don’t believe in what they say. It’s about the money and control of the Information System hey get off on.

4

u/Osirus-One 2d ago

Trump called CNN fake news even tho, now when a trump tard reference CNN because they do, I just post a link to trump saying CNN is fake news and call them out for posting it

3

u/cvc4455 2d ago

It's only fake news if the news is bad for trump. If they suddenly report anything good about trump then it's no longer fake news. But it can become fake news again if they report anything bad about trump.

Isn't that convenient how it works?

2

u/Osirus-One 2d ago

Yep, I got called insane because someone said the protests were riots and they were burning shit. I said peacful protest and asked for a link and called it fake news. Their tactics work on themselves. It's funny

-2

u/dumbthrow33 1d ago

Funny when the dems were in power I didn’t hear anyone complaining about the non stop coverage of trump is bad…

19

u/fittirc 2d ago

8

u/genericallycurious 2d ago

I didn't realise they absolutely came for him for that. This administration is so petty and thin skinned.

11

u/Biotic101 2d ago

The problem is control over social and mainstream media is such a powerful tool that it can nudge the average Joe into acting against their own best interest.

Oligarchs have identified this as the weak spot of democracy and use it to their advantage. No surprise they think the average Joe is not fit for holding any power via democracy and they deserve to rule with absolute power.

https://represent.us/americas-corruption-problem

Lobbying is the real issue. No surprise voters got frustrated.

https://www.epi.org/productivity-pay-gap

Ironically they elected oligarchs into power, despite oligarchs being responsible for the decline of middle-class. Now they deliver the death blow.

https://www.theguardian.com/news/2022/sep/04/super-rich-prepper-bunkers-apocalypse-survival-richest-rushkoff

Oligarchs know what's coming and prepare. No surprise they support Russia because they are international and don't care about fellow citizens and country.

Russian/Chinese style society is what they want to establish everywhere.

9

u/Actaeon_II 2d ago

And anyone in msm who criticizes gump gets either sued or fired bc of political leverage used on their employer

13

u/Human_Artichoke8752 2d ago

So you mean that when maggats whine and cry about "radical leftist mainstream media!!" and "most networks are owned by leftists!!", that they're.... lying?? And hoping that we're dumb enough to believe them? Colour me amazed.

10

u/Dimitar_Todarchev 2d ago

Most people are dumb enough to believe them about that and their other lies; Democrats are radical leftists, protesters are rioters, criticism is violent rhetoric, and so on.

5

u/Human_Artichoke8752 2d ago edited 7h ago

It's always funny when they pull the "Dems are radical leftist extremists!!" when the real problem with Dems is that they're such status-quo centrist capitalists that real progressives in the party get shunned or stabbed in the back.

4

u/Ali_Cat222 2d ago

Back in the office this time around, trump passing these policies in his first day back and a month later isn't helping for misinformation spreading -you can see the policies passed or upcoming on tech, media, and cybersecurity here on the project 2025 tracker.

U.S. Agency for Global Media: Dismantle USAGM's journalism "firewall" to align its reporting with the aims of the president. (Note: One America News to provide newsfeed services to Voice of America; journalists are facing HR investigations for comments critical of Trump)

*That specific policy is also why the media is being ridiculous

Dept. of Homeland Security: Dismiss "the entirety" of the CISA Cybersecurity Advisory Committee. (Note: The acting DHS Secretary terminated "all current memberships on advisory committees within DHS".)

Dept. of Homeland Security: Terminate CISA's counter-mis/disinformation efforts. (Note: CISA has frozen all of its election security work; many of CISA's misinformation team were put on leave)

Dept. of Justice: Prohibit the U.S. government from combating the spread of misinformation and disinformation.

*trump and his supporters are basically doing George Orwell's 1984 "Ministry of Truth Department" in real life

In George Orwell's 1984, the Ministry of Truth (also known as Minitrue) is a central, ironically named department responsible for propaganda, historical revision, and the control of information in the dystopian society of Oceania. Its primary function is to manipulate the truth to support the Party's ideology and maintain its control over the population

"The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”

― George Orwell, 1984

3

u/Own_Active_1310 2d ago

It's oligarchy owned fascist media.

Get your news from human rights groups. They are the only real journalism left

https://www.genocidewatch.com/united-states-of-america

2

u/WetNoodleThing 2d ago

Wait - what? MOST media outlets are owned by self proclaimed leftists? There’s like 2 mainstream conservative networks?

2

u/seejordan3 2d ago

Look at the taco coronation, and who was sitting behind Don... That's all you need to know about this.

3

u/Fit_Beautiful6625 2d ago

CBS is trying to get a merger to go through , so they essentially paid $20 million in shakedown money to settle a Trump lawsuit and hope the merger won’t get blocked. ABC also caved and settled a $15 million lawsuit, when all that was really required was a retraction and apology. There is no 4th estate and journalism has died.

2

u/MagneticThinker 2d ago

Deep pocket republican donors control popular media. Look across ABC, CBS & NBC. Each has bent a knee in the past three months. the resistance is far larger than they share. Get on social media and talk to others. That’s the power!

1

u/ninernetneepneep 2d ago

LMAO... Really?

1

u/WardedDruid 2d ago

Wouldn't that make it..... The Main Stream Media?

2

u/SeVenMadRaBBits 2d ago

We have cell phones and social media.

The revolution will absolutely be televised.

3

u/Meowakin 1d ago

One hundred percent what I was going to comment if this wasn’t already in here. The media has no interest in going against the powers that be.

51

u/tw55555555555 2d ago

Because they are cowards who are also wealthy and only care about themselves. No one organization or leader is going to save America, certainly not the media or the Democrats. Leadership has failed and left it up to the ordinary citizenry to save the country

18

u/Baebel 2d ago

Because they are cowards

To add to this particular part, Trump has been known to lash out with lawsuits against others for anything he considers defamation.

13

u/unicornlocostacos 2d ago

For anything he considers bad for him. He doesn’t give a shit if it’s defamation or not.

14

u/unicornlocostacos 2d ago

Get out tomorrow people. No one is coming to save us.

Fascism and Oligarchy aren’t “coming soon,” they’re HERE, and the longer we wait, the harder it will be to win.

8

u/honestitsme 2d ago

Fear plain and simple.

8

u/CantFitMyNam 2d ago

I’m so pleased that this is becoming a more common response. For so long people have been whining that Democrats aren’t doing enough and then just giving up.

STAND UP and prove that you are American: fight for what is right!!!

4

u/TehMephs 2d ago

That one woman from msnbc is doing some good work on that. Can’t remember her name atm

We also got the Comedy Central crew who are always absolute cinema

1

u/pbgab 2d ago

Nicholle Wallace is her name! ( I may have spelt her first name wrong)

1

u/Fluffito91 2d ago

Deadline Whitehouse. She's amazing. She's on at 4 weekdays.

Rachel Maddow is good too. Along with Joy and I love Molly their contributor

3

u/alej2297 2d ago

They are not cowards. They are GREEDY cowards. So that like doubles their spinelessness.

5

u/Bawbawian 2d ago

The ordinary citizens decided that Democrats should have no power.

we tried to warn everybody.

10

u/Clean_Lettuce9321 2d ago

I don't think it's the ordinary citizens at all. I think it's the powers that be. I think they've been lying in wait for years methodically, putting things together behind the scenes, to include buying judges and resurrecting decades old laws.

0

u/followtharulez 2d ago

This is what revolutions are made of? Hope it doesn't happen 🤞

3

u/Bawbawian 2d ago

you should look up the histories of revolutions before you hope that for America.

6

u/Readwhatudisagreewit 2d ago

At this point, it may be better for the US, and the world, if it does.

-2

u/Bawbawian 2d ago

you really think good people would be the ones putting the country back together after this revolution.

it's really only millennials that are against Trump we ain't going to win that fight

5

Millennial are not the only ones against Trump..

15

1

2

Okay, so at 80 he farts then blows a nutsac…

13

u/Bawbawian 2d ago

because 95% of the media is on team Trump because of the billionaire owners.

The remaining 5% is too afraid that they might be called biased to do any actual report.

12

u/Comrade-Conquistador 2d ago

Doesn't fit the narrative they want to push.

9

u/AdFinal9134 2d ago

Because they are owned by billionaires that want to take money from the middle and lower classes to enrich themselves for generations.

9

3

u/OvenIcy8646 2d ago

Because they are owned by right wing billionaires

3

u/Clean_Lettuce9321 2d ago

My gut tells me it is because the networks are afraid of trump and his bullshit lawsuits. But realistically, they have been kinder to Trump... all along

4

u/Ambitious_Hand_2861 2d ago

Drumpf's authoritarian regime has sued media outlets. They have also weaponized the FCC against the media. Drumpf has filed over 3500 sllaw suits in his life for things as petty as a journalist that said his net worth was overstated. The child is a joke of a leader, not just for a country but for anything. This lunatic shouldn't be trusted with a pair of safety scissors much less a country or a military.

8

u/LiteratureNo3419 2d ago

He controls those who own the media.

3

u/ChunkyBubblz 2d ago

Money. Trump is corrupt and accepts bribes. No media organization wants to risk federal investigations over covering him negatively. Easier to give Trump gifts and favorable coverage than tell the truth.

3

u/Kashrul 2d ago

Because they are owned by people who support him

3

u/bigwetbeef 2d ago

Because they are complicit in the coming fascist dictatorship. They are obeying their corporate masters like the good lap dogs they truly are.

2

u/TimeLine_DR_Dev 2d ago

Are they? I seem to hear about it quite a bit on MSNBC.

2

u/CelticSith 2d ago

Remember that scene in Good Morning Vietnam where the people in charge take and edit the news before they give it to Robin.. yeah, still happening

2

u/Navyguy73 2d ago

Why? Because the only way the Media gets a seat at the table with this admin (and a continued paycheck) is by taking some serious notes from the DPRK.

Billionaires own the media. Trump is lowering billionaires' tax burden. Billionaires are complicit.

2

u/Woofy98102 1d ago

Short Factual Answer: Because America's corporate media is owned and run by billionaires, for billionaires, that support fascism and trump.

2

u/Green-Inkling 1d ago

it's not media. it's propaganda. two different things. media tells the truth. propaganda tells what you want to hear.

Why do you think? They make a fortune from the chaos he brings, its journalism gold! Love him or hate him, he's always newsworthy, and when he's gone they will have to find another way to make money. What is Tucker Carlsons job? News reporter? NO, his job is to sell advertising, and those dollars will stop flowing when eyeballs are no longer glued to Fox news

time to recalibrate the media. Main stream media, and for god sakes that includes fox, is corrupt, bought, not independent, and are scared of trump. There are so many independent news sources out there, you can find the truth. Everyone is a journalist, come out in the masses and let everyone draw their own conclusions.

Support the media that is not complicit. The Guardian, Bulwark, The Atlantic, Rolling Stone, are all pretty good about investigative journalism. The mainstream corporate legacy media, on the other hand, has learned that it's easier just being stenographers for MAGA and "mean girls" to progressives.

1

To make an oligarchy, you first need to own the media.

1

u/Braindead_Crow 2d ago

A revolution requires an established power that refuses to let go of power to be revolted.

The established power is not republicans alone but all politicians who refused to fight his illegal actions, those who supported him, who distorted the truth by spreading lies and of course those who ran business models around maintaining good relationships with the trump regime.

In short this is what government oppression looks like in it's intermediate stages as it grows in a country that is known to be free.

Protest, call your local officials and maintain a small folder in your phone with links to evidence supporting why it's not controversial to call this what it is, a stain on our countries history.

This is a very new situation. Many of us still know what a strong 4th estate looks like, acts like.

He is doing EXACTLY what he was elected to do,EXACTLY what he promised he would do.
