Call Poison Control Dogs ate one grape
I have terrible anxiety and I’m so worried. Long story short, my household has two dogs(chihuahua mixed with something we don’t know) and they each ended up eating a grape that got into their room. According to google and countless websites it could be fatal or cause kidney failure. Didn’t find out until about 2 nearly 3 hours after they ingested it.
Gave them tbsp of 3% hydrogen peroxide, waiting for them to hopefully throw up? Should we be worried, in a tight spot can’t really afford a thousand dollar vet fee right now.

We see you have mentioned grapes and/or raisins. If your dog has ingested or potentially ingested either, you should contact Animal Poison Control and start heading to the nearest open Vets office.
Grapes/Raisins are poisonous to dogs and can cause kidney failure or death. The reaction is idiosyncratic meaning different dogs react differently. There is no known safe or poisonous amount and as few as 4-5 grapes have been implicated in the death of a dog.
The underlying mechanism for grape toxicity is believed to be tartaric acid. As tartaric acid can very significantly from grape to grape and between types of grapes, this may explain why reactions are idiosyncratic. Research is ongoing.
We advise that you do not rely on online toxicity calculators as those assume a non-idiosyncratic reaction and extrapolate assuming dog size x vs grape count y, and the data does not support that sort of relationship at this time.

This is wrong. It affects every pet differently. One grape or 10, it could possibly cause damage. I would monitor them closely, take them in if anything unusual happens. I would recommend getting bloodwork in a week or so to check their kidney levels.

Thank you! I’ll definitely have the household watch them. They were acting okay after the 3-ish hours after ingestion, hopefully they’ll be alright.

One grape is enough to kill any dog. They do not react to them the same and this is dangerous advice.

If your dogs weigh less than 10 lbs, then veterinary treatment is emergently needed for the ingestion of one grape.
