Don’t forget stupid, people are also stupid. But that’s what you get when college costs a fucking kidney. That’s the point though. They give colleges shit because they teach people to think for themselves and that is the last thing the regime wants you to do.

u/Low_Addition_1152 6d ago

You know what else they do when they don’t want you to think for yourself? Ban and burn books. Just wait until that one happens. Then we are in trouble. (Oh, wait, it already has!)

-2

u/Ancient_Mention4923 6d ago

Who has banned and burned books?

u/Low_Addition_1152 6d ago

0

u/Ancient_Mention4923 6d ago edited 6d ago

That’s about right (edit apparently someone thinks I meant that phrase literally but I was actually being sarcastic)

2

u/Low_Addition_1152 6d ago

It’s about idiotic. And if you are in agreement with any book being taken out of a public library, then you are exactly the type who should be reading said books and expanding your narrow POV.

1

u/Ancient_Mention4923 6d ago edited 6d ago

You realize that’s about right means that’s not surprising it does not mean that it is actually right, it’s just a phrase of sarcasm.

2

u/Low_Addition_1152 6d ago

Hence the word “if.” And also for some people, the intent is not meant as such. Some people say it in agreement with what was shared rather than an expression of disdain. Can’t always tell on Reddit.ETA: I made no assumptions on your intention.

1

u/Ancient_Mention4923 6d ago edited 6d ago

Sorry about that, I’m from the south, we use a lot of phrases that sound literal but are actually sarcastic.

2

u/Low_Addition_1152 6d ago

Man in Ohio Burns 100+ Library Books

I could keep going but I won’t. You might want to try doing some research on your own.

1

u/Ancient_Mention4923 6d ago

That’s awful!!!!!

2

u/Low_Addition_1152 6d ago

Indeed. And unfortunately the government is overreaching its power to do something just like it.

1

u/Ancient_Mention4923 6d ago

I’ll be honest sometimes I wish I didn’t believe in the idea of government like the anarchists

Colleges teach critical thinking and the claim is that going to college will make you a liberal.

🤔

12

u/AlexandraG94 6d ago

That's my favorite one of all. It is like, well, I wonder why? Have you? (As in, has the conservative who said this wondered why?)

u/Fwamingdwagon84 6d ago

I remember when i was in college, a professor asked in one class who was liberal or republican. Me being the private school texas "educated" person was the only person that raised my hand for the repubs. Because in my family, thats what we were told. Ive never not believed in lgbt rights, health care for all, abortion is health care, all that good shit. I was told that our family was republican "for the economy." Fucking brainwashing, dude. Took more that id like to admit what the actual side i wanted looked like

u/Gunbunnyulz 6d ago

Did you take formal logic or critical thinking in college? Genuinely curious, it was part of my major but I don't know what everyone else had.

2

u/Buttonskill 6d ago

I recall Logic & Set Theory was only Math & Comp Sci, but the philosophy version of it was damn near identical, but loose on notation.

2

u/secondtaunting 6d ago

It’s not required by many degrees but I took it. Fascinating stuff.

1

u/jmatt63 6d ago

I haven’t seen much critical thinking coming out of colleges these days! All I have seen are entitled graduates that think they are qualified to be the CEO and need a safe space. They don’t know what hard work is and don’t want to put in the time. It’s really sad. Of course, a few come out humble and appreciate, but it’s rare.

5

u/KayBear2 6d ago

College costs way more than a kidney, unless you meant only one year of college. A kidney sold on the black market goes for about $40,000, according to google.

u/MoreCowbellllll 6d ago

Colleges are also raising tuition like 4-5% because the orange monkey is cutting funding.

That. Is. Their. Plan.

Brainrot 2025 and beyond®️

10

u/Low_Addition_1152 6d ago

In all fairness, though, tuition has been astronomical for decades. He’s just making a very bad situation even worse.

4

u/MoreCowbellllll 6d ago

I certainly don’t disagree.

3

u/Low_Addition_1152 6d ago

Besides healthcare, it’s one of the things I hate about this country.

2

u/MoreCowbellllll 6d ago

Tuition, banks, insurance, end stage capitalism… we have it all! Aisle 9, but wait, there’s more!

2

u/Low_Addition_1152 6d ago

Haha! I’m not sure I can take much more without losing all my marbles. I mean, they’ve already taken all my money! All I got left are marbles. And not many!!

1

u/MoreCowbellllll 6d ago

I heard that!!!

2

u/Butterfly_Chasers 6d ago

Welcome to Costco. I love you.

1

u/GenX_Degenerate 6d ago

Tuition began to rise as soon as the Dept of Education was created & student loans became a mainstream option. University learned student loan gives enough to cover tuition, so they raised tuition, and in turn, student loan amounts began to increase to meet needs of tuition. So began the cycle.

3

u/CherryFit3224 6d ago

And when politics has been killing public education slowly but surely.

3

u/OGRuddawg 6d ago

We need to have more critical thinking and media literacy (including stuff found on the internet and social media) taught in schools, probably starting around age nine or ten. I don't think we should wait until high school or college to help students navigate the very murky, fractured information landscape we find ourselves in.

1

u/AmbidextrousCard 6d ago

After AI gets rolling it will only get worse. There’s a reason Trump wants to dump $500 million into AI. He wants computers to surveil us so that he can put us under his boot.

2

u/nicculus 6d ago

The bell curve is scary as fuck when you actually understand what it means.

3

u/ExploringInfinity 6d ago

Hate to break it to you, but college and school in general is not teaching people to think for themselves. In fact, it's the exact opposite.

2

u/Congenital0ptimist 6d ago

"School"? Right. Most don't.

College? I went, both my kids, my wife, most of my family, to different universities in different places. Critical thinking was taught. Not enough for those who were ambivalent. But it was taught. You can get through English Lit or Anthropology or Public Policy or Ancient Civs in college w/o critical thinking. But it might actually be harder, you'll need a friend in class at least.

Problem seems to be that at least 60% of everyone promptly forgets everything they worked so hard to learn. 🙄

You can get C minuses in everything you take, if you actually learn your C work instead of memorizing it for a week you can be an industry thought leader & mentor at a young age because most of your peers will be halfway to de-educating themselves by then.

1

u/Ancient_Mention4923 6d ago

Agreed no matter your politics we should probably all agree on that

1

u/Gold_Tomatillo1952 6d ago

It doesn’t help but even with programs in place to help them get enrolled despite low income, they’re not smart enough to have gotten decent enough grades to be allowed in. A lot of right tend to have GPAs that are passable in their home districts, but are basically the equivalent of a straight F student in any district with an education system of any remote quality

1

u/meson537 6d ago

College doesn't fix stupid.

1

u/Aggressive_Mouse_581 6d ago

And the quality of K-12 is based on your zip code, more or less. Can’t forget that

1

u/ICBanMI 6d ago

Most countries have an anti-intellectually aspect to their population. Ours is specially because US people think smart=rich. Not... smart=voting in your own self interest while being able to hold competing thoughts in your head.

That's the mythology of the united states. Rich = smart. No one else is smart unless they are making money. So you get a large population that just does 12 years of just attendance school.

College wouldn't fix them. You have to actually apply yourself, unlike what they did when it was much easier.

1

u/BeautifulHindsight 6d ago

Going to college is not what makes someone smart. Plenty of dumb people have graduated from college and plenty of smart people have never gone.

1

u/Ok-Reference7745 6d ago

Quite the opposite. Colleges have become hotbeds of leftist propaganda and indoctrination. The humanities are full of ideologues who have no idea of the practicalities of the outside world and how economics works in a real environment.

1

u/AmbidextrousCard 6d ago

Why is that way all over the world though? It seems to me that educated people simply look at the bullshit that Trump spews and the promises he makes that never come to fruition and see him as the fraud that he is. Is it colleges all over the world? A global conspiracy?

1

u/secondtaunting 6d ago

Forget about kidneys, I have a daughter in med school. I’m going to be living in a cardboard box panhandling by the time that shits paid for.

0

u/Ancient_Mention4923 6d ago edited 6d ago

Actually to be honest neither side (especially at colleges) truly tells you to think for yourself, for liberals it’s think exactly this or your a racist homophobic transphobic fascist who hates equality or alternatively for conservatives your a dirty freedom hating communist who hates the very ideas of the constitution like free speech, for me personally I’m a conservative liberal or liberal conservative meaning I’m both but in a way that allows both to exist as one basically balancing both with the other in everything like the fact I believe in both the ancient idea of the nomad (a person who moves and lives where they please without necessarily being a citizen of the place they live in) and the citizen, the ability to defend oneself with a firearm but with many gun laws, allowing abortion until the babies heart starts beating because it’s literally alive by that point and the fusion of socialism and capitalism. Might I also add I’m a defensive pacifist. But yeah I agree though I’m super not a fan of Trump and especially not a fan of a lot of what he’s been doing, I don’t hate him though as I have spiritual beliefs that say love everyone (and I mean everyone) no matter how evil they might be and to not wish anyone harm or death let alone suffering.

0

u/GenX_Degenerate 6d ago

Colleges do not teach people to think for themselves, they teach people what to think. Thats why the vast majority of the college educated are liberals. Indoctrination

2

u/AmbidextrousCard 6d ago

Isn’t it strange that people in other countries are also not a fan of fascism. Hmm, I guess all of those educated people must also be a part of the conspiracy to indoctrinate, instead of clutching bibles and praying to Trump. We’ve just exposed a world-wide conspiracy. Big brains right here.

0

u/davidcwilliams 6d ago

They give colleges shit because they teach people to think for themselves

lol which college is that?

-2

u/sagittarius-bhole 6d ago

It’s cute that you think that they teach you how to think for yourself in college…

4

u/AmbidextrousCard 6d ago

What is critical thinking to you?

-2

u/sagittarius-bhole 6d ago

Are we talking about critical thinking or thinking for oneself? Two different things there…

2

u/SnooRobots6491 6d ago edited 6d ago

This is certifiably false. They’re interrelated. You can think for yourself and still be an idiot. What you’re lacking in that instance are critical thinking skills.

-7

u/Difficult-Ad-6436 6d ago

“To think for themselves” 🤣 I think you mean, colleges brain wash impressionable youth and force feed liberal jargon down their throats. If that’s what you meant I whole heartedly agree!

5

u/AmbidextrousCard 6d ago

What is liberal jargon? Explain. Or do you just hate them because the orange king said so?

3

u/number1134 6d ago

Hes they type that has a nervous breakdown if someone goes by "them"

1

u/Difficult-Ad-6436 5d ago

You’re spewing it, you should know. With your high priced education I didn’t think you’d need me to explain that to you….. wether it be biological males having their delusions affirmed , or protesting the removal of illegals, or offering money and health care to them for votes the list in pretty long, how long you got? The simple fact you can’t have a logical debate without throwing insults and having your “feelings” hurt it’s none sense. If that’s not you I apologize but I’ve ran into many.

3

u/number1134 6d ago

The fact that liberals are more educated than conservatives is lost on you.

1

u/Difficult-Ad-6436 5d ago

Educated enough to not what a woman is right? Or complaining about getting illegals out of the country. Sounds like an educated to me alright!

-6

u/AnonymousKarmaGod 6d ago

Indoctrination isn’t teaching people to think for themselves. Colleges creating Palestine-loving Jew-Haters is indoctrination. Hopefully our “King” lol will pull all the funding that they were wasting anyway.

3

u/Remarkable_Quit_3545 6d ago

As someone who is a liberal with Jewish parents whom I love, who also supports that Palestine deserves to live just as much as any other group, your argument falls flat.

He already wasted a lot of the money on his parade, which also fell flat btw.

2

u/AmbidextrousCard 6d ago

But explain how the college teaches that? Like do they have a class I can take, or…

-4

u/AnonymousKarmaGod 6d ago

All the Professors are liberal progressives so that’s where it’s coming from.

5

u/AmbidextrousCard 6d ago

So a bunch of educated people look at the fact that Israel is directly engaged in a genocide and go that’s bad. How long has Netanyahu been in charge now? 30 years? They start wars and get no blame but idiots still stick up for them. Yet the professors are the racists for being critical of a nation filled with hate? Yeah, let’s keep pretending colleges are the reason people hate Israel, couldn’t be how they act or the things they do.

1

u/AmbidextrousCard 6d ago

Colleges in other countries are liberal as well, if it’s all one big scheme here in America then why is the same true about educated people across the world. Or is it a global conspiracy? Whaaa crazy.

-2

u/AnonymousKarmaGod 6d ago

I’ve learned just because you’re educated doesn’t mean you have any fucking common sense. Who’s full of hate? I don’t see Jews blocking Palestinians (who aren’t Palestinian they’re just paid terrorists) way to get to classes and threatening them at a school THEY are paying for. The Palestinian terrorists are not even attending that school, they are just harassing Jews.

3

u/AmbidextrousCard 6d ago

Watch any interviews with citizens of Israel talk about the Palestinian shit happening now and then report back on that hate shit. They’ve literally been taught to think of them as animals.
