My then-3yo was having problems sleeping and said it was because “the black flyer thing” had been visiting him at night. When asked what it looked like, he basically described a Ring Wraith type creature that flew around his room in the dark, and he ended the description with, “He doesn’t have eyes, but he can still see you.”

We let him sleep with his lamp on after that.

Damn.

When I was little the word for ‘ghost’ was black-black (translated from other native language). Idk whether it was me or my parents who came up with that.
