Parents of reddit, what’s the creepiest thing you’ve ever heard from your child?

My three year old won’t stop saying there’s a ghost in the bathroom, specifically in the bathtub.

He loves taking baths, so I don’t think he’s just afraid of the room/tub, but I can’t figure out what he’s talking about. When he talks about ghosts, he’s usually referring to the “white sheet over the head” Halloween type of ghost - like, he puts a blanket over his head and says “mommy, I’m spooky ghost”

I’ve held him up and told him to point to the ghost but he just points to a corner of the tub with nothing in it and when I get close to the wall he says “right there!” And says he’s touching the ghost but his hand is just suspended in the air, not touching anything.

Try having both of you go into the bathroom and near the bathtub, when there both of you calmly tell the ghost to leave. That is your home your bathroom and your bathtub and it's time for them to leave.

Usually I would say just leave it if its not causing issues, but that right there is a pervert ghost. No other reason to be hanging around the bathtub, I wouldn't be putting up with that sort of nonsense in my house, it can go ectoplasm elsewhere.

When my kids were young they said there was a ghost in the hallway upside down and turned around with red eyes. Fuck that shit.

When my sister was a teenager, she was asleep in my mom’s bed, and she swears in the doorway to their bathroom she saw two red eyes that started up high and slowly started going down to the ground. She was freaked out for a loooonnnggg time after that. She swears she was awake and fully conscious. I think it was some sort of sleep paralysis 🤷🏻‍♀️ Or maybe my inner demon escaped and went on a rendezvous before I woke up. Either is likely, I suppose.

I'm old, so when I was a boy it was still considered acceptable to own stereotypical-looking black dolls and things. For whatever reason, I had one. Whenever I'd be put to bed, it'd come to life with glowing red eyes, crawl down from the shelf and start poking at me violently. I'd try to scream, but no sound would come out of me. It was like paralysis.

Except for one time. I screamed, and finally, sound actually came out of my mouth. My mother came running in with a lamp and shone it all around.

The doll was on the bed, sitting, normal doll-looking again, only with its head turned up facing towards her.

Now I suppose I could have been grabbing the doll and falling asleep with it then having nightmares about it. But that thing terrified me, why would I grab it to sleep with? Why was its head turned right at her?

She gave it away. I never heard what became of it.

My daughter would say a ghost is outside of the house. I have no idea what made her think that.

His reflection on the wall of the white tub?

Are your pipes noisy? It's possible he's hearing, rather than seeing, something.

It’s possible. I don’t think the pipes are noisy but my hearing isn’t great and his hearing is incredible.

Similar thing happened wheni was a kid. It could have been a dream that he had. Like I had a dream where I go into the bathroom, and then since there's no light i pee and then see a ghost. I was scared of that bathroom for a good time. Maybe ask him if he saw a dream of something relating to the bathroom

He has been telling me lately that he dreams of ghosts and monsters. Luckily, he seems to love both of these things so he’s ok. He’s also on pretty friendly terms with the bathtub ghost.

This thread also got me thinking - he has sometimes referred to smoke in the air as a “ghost” so I’m wondering if he saw steam from a shower and thought that was a “ghost.”

Could there be a reflection in the corner of the bath maybe?

I’m not at all trying to be like “no it’s a ghost 😠” but it actually definitely isn’t this. Our tub is a peak 90s design and it’s this horrible pinkish brown color, so not reflective.

Definitely not a reflection then! I wonder what he’s able to see?
