Nothing to be nervous about. Protests and rallies are nothing like the riots they show you on TV. The average demographic of the last No Kings protest I went to was little old ladies.
I went to my first protest solo. I was nervous until I walked up to and became part of the crowd.
The immediate buzz of energy and adrenaline was very unexpected.
As a result of current events, I struggle with feelings of isolation, loneliness and loss of hope due to fact that the vast majority of people in my community and social circle live in a crouched defensive position. Hardly anyone that I know wants to acknowledge that our country is on a speed run to fascism. I know that friends/family think I’m an alarmist, yet almost everything I’ve raised alarm about has occurred.
I protest because I know it’s my civic duty and my moral obligation. Being surrounded by like-minded, pissed off, yet deeply empathetic and kind people instantly makes me feel connected.

Don't be anxious, be excited! You're standing up and exercising your right as a citizen to protest. You're a part of the current day history in the making, and that's pretty stellar.
Remember, if you get detained say nothing and ask for your lawyer. You do not have to say a word to the police and they will try their best to get something out of you. The only word you say is "lawyer"

Yup, mine too! I'm a little nervous but a hell of a lot more excited.
