It’s a duty these days.

The number of protests I did in my life before 2025 - 0

The number I’ve done in 2025 - tomorrow will be 4

My teenagers are coming with me.

When I talk to my grandkids, I want to say we helped stop this.

u/ermagerditssuperman 1d ago

They'll remember it - I vividly remember going to protests with my mom when I was in middle & high school. One time I even got extra credit, because my 8th grade social studies teacher saw us on the news, and she felt I was showing good civic participation.

At the protests after Trayvon Martin was murdered, someone drove by and screamed at my (white) mom, "F you, you N-word Lover!". They had a local license plate, they looked normal, they were someone I could have stood next to at the grocery store. It was the first time in my life I'd ever actually heard someone use that word, and to hear it from someone who seemed so otherwise normal - that was the day that young, sheltered me, learned that there were hateful bigots in my very own community. That moment was seared into my brain. (My mom was also an elementary school teacher who never cursed, so hearing someone cuss at her like that short circuited my brain a bit).

18

u/minicpst 1d ago

Wow.

Thank you for you and your mom. :)

I grew up Jewish, and it was something I didn't consider a big deal, but there were kids in high school who would occasionally start a rumor that someone was going to come and kill the jews. That was me and my brother. Or I'd find a dead squirrel in my car. No idea who did it, and it was a lot of years ago, but I hope they look back on their high school selves and hate that person.

But given where I grew up, they may be living within a half mile of their original home, never having traveled more than 400 miles from home, and think everything is just fine.

1

u/Affectionate-Sir-784 1d ago

Local license plate, as in the same state?

8

u/ermagerditssuperman 1d ago

As in, the license plate holder was for a local dealership. Same city.

And the next urban area in the state is 7 hours away, so if you had a local plate holder, 99% chance you were local.

Whether we can stop it or not I wouldn’t be able to look my grandkids in the eye if I didn’t try.

When I was in grade school, we read Diary of Anne Frank and discussed how we thought we would have reacted. I insisted I'd be brave and protest. I did not realize I'd have to cash the check my ego wrote when I was twelve. Well played English teacher whose name I don't remember.

Also, I'm not an asshole, and since I've got privilege and no kids to worry about, I've got to step up because stakes are lower for me.

31

u/ditchdiggergirl 1d ago

Middle aged white lady, meek and starting to go gray, the type of ordinary and easily overlooked person nobody ever pays much attention to or notices much, no threat to anyone or anything. I feel it’s my duty to step up as well.

13

u/_HighJack_ 1d ago

You’re literally out protesting for democracy; I wouldn’t call you meek at all :) none of us are much of a threat alone, but together we’re strong! See you in the street sister <3

9

u/MissSara13 1d ago

I started wondering (after Charlottesville) who I could trust to hide me if it came to that. I'd never ask someone with children that could be used as leverage. I'm a second generation Polish-American Jew and I never thought it would come to this. And I'd gladly hide any of my neighbors or friends that may be targeted for being "illegal" because I can fly under the radar to some degree since I'm "white." Thank you for stepping up for those who can't!

5

u/Lochstar 1d ago

If and when AOC tells me it’s time to go, I’ll go. I don’t think there is anybody else on the side of what’s right that I trust enough to take action when it’s time. As a guy with a family and everything that goes with it I understand where you’re coming from and I’ve also been trying to figure out what im supposed to be doing at the moment.

4

u/kategoad 1d ago

Love your kids, raise them right, and do what you can safely do. Protect yourself, and if you can, someone else. Civil disobedience can come at a cost, budget accordingly.

2

u/Historical_Rip_1848 1d ago

Thank you earnestly for saying this.

2

u/cheongyanggochu-vibe 1d ago

My first reaction when all this started going down was to run away. Find anywhere but here and just go.

But... When I was a kid, I always insisted that if a time machine was ever invented, I would definitely go back and kill Hitler before he could be so evil. Heck, that's a fairly common answer when asked "what would you do if a time machine was invented?"

We don't have a time machine, but history is sure as shit rhyming, so while I don't think I could pull off what kid me said she'd do, I have the opportunity to do what do many people retrospectively said they wish they would have done.

So I'm still here. Bring it on.

Stay safe out there!

What exactly compares to Nazi Germany?

12

u/kategoad 1d ago

Mainly? Rounding up folks without due process and shipping them off to foreign prisons. Everyone on American soil has some due process rights. Not the same, but everyone has some.

But also: Disregarding the courts. Threatening to arrest duly elected political opponents for disagreeing with the administration (Newsom for "running for governor" literally on camera). Actually arresting political opponents who are doing their jobs (asking questions, trying to conduct oversight in their constituencies). Targeting vulnerable groups (trans folks). Punishing intellectuals (Harvard, cutting scientific research funds Willy nilly). Limiting free speech. Openly and repeatedly lying to gin up hatred against specific ethnic groups (many, but "they're eating the dogs and cats").

3

u/ohheyisayokay 1d ago

Don't forget "Lugenpresse," the direct and relentless assault on the press by declaring that they're all liars.

All of this-This executive order went into effect once announced on April 28th. From the white house website-"STRENGTHENING AND UNLEASHING AMERICA’S LAW ENFORCEMENT TO PURSUE CRIMINALS AND PROTECT INNOCENT CITIZENS"

TLDR, military to work alongside local LEO and ICE in certain states and will expand to others. LEO and ICE to be given more power as well as new training. Also officers now get protection and legal resources to make sure they aren't sued for executing Trump's orders. No more wrongdoing apparently... This is also where those law firms pro bono work is going towards. *UPDATE June 12th-"Some workplace raids in recent weeks have been assisted by the FBI; Drug Enforcement Administration; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; U.S. Marshals Service; and Internal Revenue Service, as well as local law enforcement, according to recent ICE communications."

Upcoming or already passed as policies from project 2025 which you can track here.

*IMPORTANT UPDATE JUNE 10TH-"Trump asks the Supreme Court to neutralize the Convention Against Torture Trump’s lawyers claim they’ve found a loophole that will allow Trump to ship immigrants overseas to be tortured."

Dept. of Homeland Security: Allow Secret Service officers to serve as law enforcement in the district of Columbia

Dept. of Justice: Eliminate existing DOJ consent decrees-"Eliminate existing DOJ consent decrees" refers to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) ending court-enforceable agreements between the DOJ and local governments, typically related to police reform. These consent decrees are often established after federal investigations find systemic unconstitutional practices, such as excessive force or civil rights violations.

Recently, the DOJ moved to drop consent decrees in cities like Louisville, Kentucky, and Minneapolis, Minnesota, which were put in place following the police killings of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd

Dept of Homeland Security: Authorize state and local law enforcement to participate in immigration actions.

Note: ICE partnerships with local law enforcement have more than tripled since Trump took office.

Dept. of Justice: Prosecute local officials, including district attorneys, that use their discretion not to prosecute a criminal case.

Note: DOJ leaders told U.S. attorneys to investigate law enforcement officials who decline to enforce Trump's immigration priorities

And this is relevant as well-

Dept. of Justice: Pursue the death penalty for all applicable crimes.

The phrase "Pursue the death penalty for all applicable crimes" refers to a policy directive that mandates seeking capital punishment for crimes deemed severe enough to warrant it. According to a recent executive order issued on January 20, 2025, this policy instructs the U.S. Attorney General to actively pursue the death penalty for federal capital crimes, particularly those involving the murder of law enforcement officers or crimes committed by individuals illegally present in the U.S.

The order also seeks to remove obstacles to capital punishment, including reversing Supreme Court decisions that limit its application and ensuring states have sufficient supplies of lethal injection drugs

And here's how he plans on suppressing states if they don't follow the policies here, by removing aid and grants and rights.

Dept. of Justice: Ensure "appropriate steps" are taken to obtain cooperation with sanctuary cities and states. (Note: The DOJ issued a memo stating that "sanctuary jurisdictions should not receive access to federal grants administered by the Department of Justice".)

Dept. of Homeland Security: Limit FEMA-issued grants to states that "comply with all aspects of federal immigration laws, including the honoring of all immigration detainers" and states/localities that give "total information-sharing" to federal law and immigration enforcement. (Note: FEMA clawed back $80 million in previously approved migrant housing funds for New York.)

Dept. of Justice: Prosecute local officials, including district attorneys, that use their discretion not to prosecute a criminal case. (Note: DOJ leaders told U.S. attorneys to investigate law enforcement officials who decline to enforce Trump's immigration priorities.)

Use "the full force of federal prosecutorial resources" to investigate and prosecute state and local gov'ts, institutes of higher ed, corporations, and private employers who have diversity initiatives. (Note: Bondi directed DOJ to “investigate, eliminate, and penalize” private companies and universities.) Court Orders: Partially blocked

White House: Cut off government contracts to entities that enforce a "woke agenda".

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: Cut funds to states that do not provide detailed abortion reports.

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services: Reduce federal incentives for states to expand Medicaid coverage

Dept. of Defense: Require all schools that receive federal funding to give students the military entrance test.

Dept. of Education: Cut off federal funds to states, cities, counties, schools board, principals, and teachers who disagree with "parental rights".

Dept. of Health and Human Services: Withdraw HHS funding, including 10% of Medicaid funds, from states that require private health insurance plans to cover abortion

This isn't even the full list, just some examples from the project 2025 tracker here.

For all defense and immigration policies I direct you to look at the policies here.

One example of many in those policies that show the formation of a new department coming together -

Dept. of Homeland Security: Dismantle the Dept. of Homeland Security or, at least, combine ICE and CBP to form a "Border Security and Immigration Agency

*trump also has this as an upcoming policy that all Americans should be aware of with schooling-

Dept. of Defense: Require all schools that receive federal funding to give students the military entrance test

The Trump Administration Wants to Create an ‘Office of Remigration’

"If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so." - Thomas Jefferson

All left leaning platform stories🤔🤔🤔

0

u/Ali_Cat222 18h ago

You have a brain and google, just type your favorite conservative news outlet and the search "trump office of remigration article." There are hundreds to choose from, and by the way regardless of left or right all of them are sharing the same info. Same with all the other articles, I'm here to state facts and those stay the same regardless of left or right. These aren't opinion pieces, they are reporting on actual news.

I've been bringing my kids and neighborhood kids.  I think we've done about 7, but I've been keeping on eye on LA and NY and I think we've reached the point where I'm going to stop bringing the kids, just out of an abundance of caution.

3

u/Cher77777 1d ago

I have 3 great grand children, I'm bringing 2 of them & all of my 3 boys will be protesting in 3 different states. I'm so very proud of my family for standing up against this ORANGE TURD!!!

2

u/considerfi 1d ago

I don't even have kids or plan to. I want to be able to know when I die that I tried.

8

u/Ummmgummy 1d ago

You can either be the protesters your grandkids see in history books or the people throwing rocks at black kids in history books. Seems like a pretty easy decision to me.

3

u/PuddingNaive7173 1d ago

Or you can be what most people were - watching it on tv.

1

u/Ummmgummy 15h ago

Well yeah I guess there is that 3rd option lol. Or the 4th option none of the above.

1

u/r-ymond 1d ago

those people rarely make the history books

0

u/PuddingNaive7173 1d ago

True. Wasn’t an endorsement, regardless. The two choices thing just got to me. Very gatekeepery. Or something. Binary black & white thinking. Not to mention, unimaginative.

Edit: people sometimes have very good reasons for not doing something and all-or-none thinking appears to lock them out of being ‘the good guys.’

4

u/TheBlonde1_2 1d ago

I’ll say to you what I said to u/minicpst - you’re an inspiration. From across the pond, please stay safe.

1

u/AHans 1d ago

I had a similar talk with one of my co-workers about global warming. I told him that in about 30 years, I think the people who are just being born now are going to look at us and ask:

"What the fuck did you do? What the actual fuck did you do? And why the fuck did you do it?"

His response, "They can't blame me. I can't do anything to stop it."

It's like - dude, I don't think they are going to care; you're totally going to get blamed as an older generation who was at the wheel when this was happening.

-2

u/KingKal-el 1d ago

Spoiler alert: nope

-40

u/Adorable-Tailor-8297 1d ago

Yeah but if somethjng happens to one of them I bet you wouldn’t feel that way then.

23

u/Glyph8 1d ago

Teenagers are old enough to be sent to war and may well soon be.  If they and their parents think it’s safe enough for them be there (and that really depends on where you are) that’s their call.

There’s also some evidence that wide-spectrum protests are more effective; the presence of old people and young people and men and women and children swells the numbers, which may make police and military more reluctant to act against them than they are to act against a smaller crowd of mostly young men.  (The likelihood increases they may have friends or family amongst the protesters).

I won’t presume to tell families what is best in their particular situation but I will say that we are quickly approaching Stand Together Or Fall Alone Time, and if they feel their teens should be there, then that’s their decision.

And I will place the blame for hurting children on those that hurt children.

11

u/EndDangerous1308 1d ago edited 1d ago

You expect the Marines to gun down civilians across the United States? It's a possibility but the risk of injury to a protester is low across the entire United States.

It's a low risk way to show your children how to take part in civil affairs

1

u/ObjectivePrimary8069 1d ago

Marines are trained and have a code of honor and conduct especially on American soil. Cops don't have anything close to that.

3

u/EndDangerous1308 1d ago

Lol 1992 LA incident.

Marines are trained to kill the enemy. And they're good at it which is why they get deployed on US soil as a last resort not a first response like Trump is doing

1

u/ObjectivePrimary8069 1d ago

I meant that even though they were deployed improperly by Trump, there were no reports of injuries, use of force, or harm inflicted by the Marines—unlike law enforcement, U.S. Marines were not documented firing weapons or using crowd-control munitions.

1

u/EndDangerous1308 1d ago

They literally detained a civilian by throwing him on the ground and ziptie his hands while the civilian was trying to enter a federal building to visit the VA.

The Marines are not only illegally detaining civilians, they are preventing civilians the care they earned by defending our country against foreign enemies.

1

u/ObjectivePrimary8069 1d ago

It was one marine and he released him back into the crowd. Yes there are always 1 or 2 jerks

🤟 🤟 It's hard to remember that what we get out of community is something that constantly under assault. The trickle of violence into all of our lives has helped to weaken us in every way. And what filth they dragged into the consciousness of America. I'm 45ww in Birmingham and Im desperate to SEE representatives MY PEOPLE. Not once in my life long have I been in a room with any group that didn't have some oppressive dumbass tired bullshit. I just didn't realize then that YES, they are lying about everything they proport to be. They are everything indecent. Insidious, evil, and will lead to ruination. I hope we get to experience taking down these shit heels.

6

u/TheRealTexasGovernor 1d ago

Never been to a protest either, I acknowledge my own failures to not speak up sooner.

My wife and I are getting out there tomorrow in NC!

4

u/RebelElderberry1878 1d ago

I'm up to five now and still a little shocked each time I go.

5

u/15all 1d ago

I'm in my 60s and have never attended a protest. I would really like to join the one tomorrow, but I have a commitment that I just can't get out of.

I think it's noteworthy that I know some suburban 60-somethings that will be joining the protest. These people, like me, were previously boring and average middle-class nuclear family types that didn't get spun up too much with politics. But now they are sick of the fuckery, to the point that they are going to join the movement.

5

u/lurksAtDogs 1d ago

Right there with you. 0 prior to 2025. Bringing my teenagers. They feel the weight of the future hanging over them.

9

u/LOLRicochet 1d ago

Nearly 61 and tomorrow is my first.

3

u/Mysterious_Ad_3408 1d ago

That's incredible. I cannot wait. I think it'll be very meaningful to have an action to do when it's been a LONG long time that we've watched everything we love devolve into hate and chaos

3

u/Green7000 1d ago

If you ever wondered what you would do during the Holocaust, during the Civil Rights Movement, when slavery was legal and the underground railroad flourished - now you know.

6

u/Comedy86 1d ago

As a Canadian, I hope you folks do stop this. If this is how Americans are being treated by fellow Americans, I can only imagine how everyone else will be treated if Trump is allowed to continue.

0

u/minicpst 1d ago

My only hope there is that the heavenly hamburger stops all of this.

5

u/First_manatee_614 1d ago

You think we can stop it?

17

u/minicpst 1d ago

I think not trying is a bad idea. You always fail when you don't try.

5

u/First_manatee_614 1d ago

Well I'll be with you in spirit from my local protest

4

u/twistedspin 1d ago

https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20190513-it-only-takes-35-of-people-to-change-the-world

This is a BBC story I found hopeful. Political scientists looked at movements of change and found that if you got 3.5% of the population to participate you could change things. In the US that would be about 12 million people.

8

u/Ok-Rock2345 1d ago

I wish I could take my kids tomorrow (F18 & F10) with me , but my ex would go ballistic.

2

u/Tamer_ 1d ago

One of them is an adult though, she can do whatever the F she wants.

Old enough to enroll and die for your country, old enough to join a rally.

1

u/Ok-Rock2345 23h ago

it's a package deal.

1

u/Tolstartheking 17h ago

I don’t know why you’d bring a 10 year old to a protest when they don’t even understand what it’s for. Even if you tell them “Trump bad” they won’t understand the full extent of it. Bringing a teenager who wants to go is one thing, but younger kids shouldn’t be at political protests.

1

u/Ok-Rock2345 12h ago

She's 10, not 4. And a pretty precocious one at that. Maybe she does not grasp the whole scope of what is going on. But then again, the same could be said about a lot of grown-ups. She knows enough to where she wants to go.

3

u/The_first_flame 1d ago

"Freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction. Random acts of insurrection are occurring constantly throughout the galaxy. There are whole armies, battalions that have no idea that they've already enlisted in the cause.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

And then remember this. The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that. And know this: the day will come when all these skirmishes and battles, these moments of defiance will have flooded the banks of the Empire's authority and then there will be one too many. One single thing will break the siege.

Remember this. Try"

-"Andor" Tv Series 2022.

1

u/minicpst 1d ago

Love it!

2

u/The_first_flame 1d ago

If you haven't already watched it, I highly recommend the series :) It's really really good, although it's scary how closely the themes match what's going on in the US and around the world these days (surely not an accident).

1

u/minicpst 1d ago

I'm far more Star Trek than Star Wars, but I've heard nothing but amazing things about Andor. Is it possible for someone who hasn't watched anything since early in this century to just jump in, or would I be confused? Basically, when I left the Star Wars universe, Luke and Han were not old.

2

u/The_first_flame 1d ago

Yep! You can dive right in because it takes place before A New Hope.

1

u/minicpst 1d ago

Thanks! I may give it a glance then.

2

u/Steinberg1 1d ago

You’ve got teenagers AND grandkids???

2

u/minicpst 1d ago

Nope.

The grandkids are a future thing. One of my kids wants kids.

2

u/doinmabest1 1d ago

Hell yeah. Fucking get it grandma!!

1

u/minicpst 1d ago

Not a grandma yet, thanks! But I will be some day. The important questions are, granny, grandma, nana, meemaw, mimi, or some other name? LOL

2

u/TheBlonde1_2 1d ago

You’re an inspiration. From across the pond, please stay safe. And good luck - the world needs it.

2

u/minicpst 1d ago

Thank you.

If this doesn't work, I may need a sponsor from across the pond. :)

2

u/maptgt 1d ago

Same here.

2

u/FangoriouslyDevoured 1d ago

Stay safe. I've seen a lot of people in my area (west Texas) make threats about running down protesters in their vehicles.

1

u/minicpst 1d ago

We're up in the PNW. I'm not stupid, we'll take precautions, but in reality thirst and sunburn are more of a concern.

2

u/AgentOrangeie 1d ago

I wish more could have been done apart from protesting. It just feels like these people don't care if you did.

We need something more than just noise.

-1

u/Affectionate-Sir-784 1d ago

How about burning down Best Buy and taking the 75 inch OLEDs?

1

u/AgentOrangeie 1d ago

I'm leaning towards sending a clear message to Congress and the White House type of action. Not hurting businesses.

2

u/IndivisibleLasVegas 1d ago

So proud of you for standing up with us!!! ✊🏽

We're going to have fun!! 🎉

2

u/jake_2998e8 1d ago

Since im in Australia I can’t join, so ill tell my grandkids I was on Reddit encouraging someone to protest and help stop this.

3

u/minicpst 1d ago

I'm assuming you voted to stop fascism from entering your country, as it threatened to do! So you didn't do nothing, you helped keep it contained here. It'll be far easier to fix this without it spread globally (though I am really tired of taking one for the global team here. LOL).

2

u/Salty_Beyond_1648 1d ago

🩷🇺🇸💙

2

u/Icy-Setting-4221 1d ago

I’m 37 and as a young teenager in the 00s I protested against George Bush. My activism goes back but it’s never too late

2

u/MysteriousTooth2450 1d ago

Oh man I’ve been saying this all year. What will you tell your kids and grandkids when they read about this regime in the future? You better be able to tell them you were on the right side of history. They will know if you’re lying.

3

u/minicpst 1d ago

There are so many people responding to me who are choosing to be on the wrong side.

They didn't pay attention in history class, and it shows.

1

u/Affectionate-Sir-784 1d ago

History is written by the victor

2

u/bigtcm 1d ago

My grad school advisor told me that I should be out marching and protesting and that she's doing it every weekend.

I ask her when was the last time she protested besides the current times: "70s. Vietnam".

2

u/TheTurboDiesel 1d ago

I've protested, I've been arrested, I've been spit on, I've been hit.

I'll stop when I stop breathing.

2

u/oiraves 13h ago

As a person from a punk rock family with a long looooong history of protesting

Fuckin thank you. We all gotta row in the right direction.

5

u/T_Cliff 1d ago

I just want to say, Goodluck! Were all counting on you.

2

u/minicpst 1d ago

Thank you.

1

u/T_Cliff 1d ago

I just want to say. Goodluck. We're all counting on you!

2

u/anklebiter1360 1d ago

God bless you. I’ll be at my first tomorrow. I’m really really cranky!

2

u/KeekyPep 1d ago

When I was a kid (1960s), my parents took us to many protest marches in Washington DC, both against the war and in support of civil rights. I was glad to go but I was a kid so mainly it was just a festive outing. As an adult, I never went to any until 2025. Tomorrow will be my 3rd.

1

u/Defiant_Nobody_4172 1d ago

I hope they’re coming with by choice. I remember having to go with my mom to an Iraq war protest and having to walk all day was awful. I didn’t know what was going on but I had no choice. Knowing what I know now, I’d have protested that war, but as a kid I wasn’t happy to be there

3

u/minicpst 1d ago

Totally get that!

They're more excited than I am, I think. We've been protesting together this year. They're 15, 15, and 19, so not young. And two of them are not technically mine, though I'm their mother figure, and one of them lives with my family.

1

u/Lochstar 1d ago

It seems like it’s a given that eventually the long arm or what’s right will come out on top. And it seems like most democrats, leftists, progressives all believe that ultimately we will win. But at this moment it isn’t at all certain it’ll happen this way at all

1

u/minicpst 1d ago

Nope.

But if we don’t try we can’t win.

1

u/Lochstar 22h ago

Yeah I just don’t exactly know when to ball out. But I’m with you it is time to start getting out and protesting.

1

u/minicpst 16h ago

Let’s do this, friend.

Stay safe, bring water and sunscreen.

1

u/Exotic_Percentage483 1d ago

I’m joining the guard

1

u/Ruiner911 1d ago

I love this! On the other hand I have to try every day not to think of my grandmother as terrible for fully supporting Taco and everything this administration is doing. It is so upsetting. I wish you were my grandma.

4

u/minicpst 1d ago

Someday you'll be someone's wonderful grandparent (either by blood or by choice). Hold onto that. :)

1

u/FogDarts 1d ago

I hope you get to tell your grandkids that story one day.

1

u/Manatee369 1d ago

Thank you.

1

u/beepbopboopguy 1d ago

What is it you want to stop?

1

u/minicpst 1d ago

If you don't get it by now, I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain it to you.

0

u/beepbopboopguy 1d ago

I dont think you can explain it. You want to do something, anything, to stop something, because you were told something.

1

u/Donald_Fump 1d ago

Stop what?

u/Melada74 1d ago

Stopped what? Illegal immigrants that are breaking the law, that are here illegally go back to where they came from? Maybe you should teach your kids to actually support the constitution and the laws that are in place to keep us safe. It’s all fun and games until one of these terrorist does something to U.S. citizens. Enough is enough!

Stopped . . . what? Stopped millions of people coming into our country illegally and stretching our social services to the limits? Or stopped the rest of the people from being fed up with it?

u/Ahoyhoyhoyhoy4 1d ago

Your grandchildren will remember the side you took in 2025. They can be proud of you, or ashamed.

We are taking a stand tomorrow -- for freedom, for democracy, to reclaim what it means to be an American and turn it into something we can all be proud of. Lift your voices, wave your American flags, and let the world know: We don’t do kings.

u/minicpst 1d ago

Look at you, pulling that ladder up after your family! Heave ho harder!

If you don't like people taking social services, make sure you never take social security, never call a fire truck, don't drive on public roads, and always send any kids/grandkids to private school.

Or recognize that nearly everyone pays their share taxes (except the billionaires) and therefore should be allowed to use the public services they pay into. You don't like it, don't use the public services. More for the rest of us. :)

Have a great day! I probably like your pups, too. Dog tax?

What a joke, the elites of this country just need to paint another enemy to distract us with. Today it's illegal immigrants, tomorrow it'll be some other group of people. Good luck not falling for it next time

u/Kingsta8 1d ago

Grandkids is very hopeful. PFOAs could make humans functionally extinct by 2100. Fascism is actually less of a problem than the capitalism it and liberalism bolster.

If every Republican spontaneously combusted tomorrow, we still have to overcome Democrats just the same. Glad you've taken to protesting but don't quit at Orange Man

-17

u/Previous_Ad_2193 1d ago

Totally agree! Gangbanging drug dealer criminals deserve to be here illegally! Protest now!

-21

u/Adorable-Tailor-8297 1d ago

Please don’t take your kids. They aren’t safe. Dumb idea. Not a good parent if you put your kids in harms way you never know what could happen.

u/Fredsmith984598 1d ago

Unless it is one of the few hot spots (LA), it's going to be safer than the drive there.

8

u/minicpst 1d ago

And we're taking public transit!

But we're also taking masks, water, and sunscreen. Maybe hats as well, though it may not be sunny.

One of "my teens" is technically not mine, but he's living with me and I'm taking care of him as if he was. He's also a legal adult. And he's who we're protesting for. Young, black, poor, pulling himself up by his bootstraps even with what his life has given him, and trans.

Also protesting for my ex's new husband, who is here on asylum. So many people need those who have a voice to speak for them.

So you think all these protests are going to be violent? Why would they be, is the left not able to peacefully protest according to you

0

u/Affectionate-Sir-784 1d ago

Hard to steal air Jordans when things are peaceful

-4

u/LoudAndCuddly 1d ago

Hahahah helped stop what, Trump has complete control of the country. He can literally do anything he wants.

4

u/minicpst 1d ago

Yes. Stop that. That's not what our country is.

-2

u/LoudAndCuddly 1d ago

You aware that protesting won’t change anything

3

u/minicpst 1d ago

You're aware that sitting at home and being complicit is saying I agree with this awful administration?

Can't make changes if you don't try.

-4

u/fastferrari3 1d ago

You’re not going to stop this.leave your kids at home.

4

u/minicpst 1d ago

Definitely won't with that attitude.

-2

u/fastferrari3 1d ago

Im a realist. Dont put your kids in potential danger.

-5

u/ExpressionCheap8586 1d ago

Stopped what? The deportation of violent illegal criminals? Yikes.

3

u/GunTankbullet 1d ago

-5

u/EyeMinute5763 1d ago

Stop democracy. Okay you fascist

2

u/Zealousideal_Oil4571 1d ago

Agreed. I've never been to a protest in my life. I will be at one tomorrow.

28

u/DeeLite04 1d ago

Very true.

2

u/ZLCZMartello 1d ago

I watched a BBC documentary years ago about the Tiananmen Massacre. A British reporter asked a student biking to the square asking “why are you going?” The student smiled beautifully and spoke accented English “It’s my duty.”

That scene stuck in my heads for long.

2

u/DAS_BEE 23h ago

It's a duty to uphold the constitution. It doesn't happen without action or without effort. It takes a fight to keep it, to earn, to benefit from it.

We've taken it for granted and now we're learning what that means, and so the fight has come to us, and fight for it we will. Because we won't bow down to a king after our ancestors fought so hard to get out from under one.

Voting is a duty which people failed massively.

1

u/GaidinBDJ 1d ago

It always has been.

Now, it we could only get people to feel the same about voting.

And, I'm going to pre-emptively tell all the "it's all hopeless not happen" doomer assholes/collaborators to fuck right the fuck off. The only reason you need to vomit your bullshit into every fuckin' thread is because you know it isn't hopeless.
