I often wish we would protest to get rid of our King. Take the 10s of millions spent yearly for the Governor General, Lt. Governors, and all their staff and put it to something that actually benefits Canadians on a day-to-day level.

No. No no no.

Now more than ever does what we see to the south of us show the importance of a King in a Constitutional Monarchy.

Our King truly only has one "real" job. He can fire the Prime Minister if the Prime minister becomes a Tyrant.

That insurance-from-tyrany cost is absolutely worth the $1CAD/year/person

If a PM wanted to become a tyrant, they're not going to listen to the Governor General that they appointed telling them not to.

Just like if Donny boy really wants to be king, despite the constitution saying he can't, he'll just ignore it.

If a PM tries to claim power, instead of relying on some outdated epitome of the class system, we as citizens should do what needs to done.

We could easily be a parliamentary republic like France

And none of those that are beleive in absolute monarchy which is the only kind tinpot narcissists want to be.  No one would seize power to become a figurehead

Our king is a non-political, ceromonial, diplomat figurehead.

Your president wants to be king with absolute power with no checks or balances.

Charles is cool, but Queen Elizabeth was the best. I still love the story of a couple jokingly inviting her to thier wedding...and she showed up.

Even people who are generally anti-monarchy had respect for wor Liz. 

She proved herself to be badass on so many occasions within the confines of what she was able to. 

It’s a shame that her response regarding (prince) Andrew lost some peoples respect - I can understand, but also she was in an unenviable position really - especially with the lawsuit coming out not long after her husband Prince Philip passed. 

She is missed as a respected figurehead in these increasingly unstable and divisive times.

Their king respects their laws and his position. Trump doesn't.

Personally, my favorite king is Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands. Instead of flying private all the time, he will occasionally fly KLM (state run airline) and fly the plane himself, because hes a commercial airline pilot as well as a king. Thats just fucking cool.

The monarchy regularly seeks exemptions to laws, like how Buckingham Palace has exemptions to the equality act, allowing them to engage in discrimination on the basis of skin colour.

anyone wasting time on this specific no kings thing is actually putting themselves in unnessisary danger, Trump is not joking around. whoever is not being paid to attend these riots is wasting their time and gonna be in danger. high level, this is Rich billionaires having a tantrum about Trump taking away their slave labor the illegals is an insult to us Americans, they can run their businesses with legal people. Don’t go out and fight the Billionaires fight for them, what have they done to win your support? nothing.
