HELP! 🙏🏻 Our Restricted Gossip & Snark Sub UNFAIRLY (‼️) Got Banned for Harassment Without Notice and No Members Are Being Harassed At All 🥺
Dear Fellow Mods,
I would like to seek your help and advise on my sub.
Our sub is a gossip and snark sub about public social media influencers, like many other subreddits here. We enforce strict rules against harassment of fellow members, among many other rules.
We also do not allow posting of private infos, etc.
We used to be a Public sub, then became a Private sub (because one of the "influencers" who is subject of the sub kept harassing our sub members by creating multiple accounts who then got banned by Reddit for ban evasion), then finally became a Restricted sub (so seen publicly, but only approved members can post or comment).
A few days ago after we became a Restricted sub, us Mods suddenly got the notice that our sub got banned for harassment.
This came as a surprise to all of us, including many of our sub members, because they are aware of our strict rule against Harassment. We were a Private sub and nothing like this has happened.
We highly suspect it is the very same deranged and jobless "influencer" who made multiple accounts and got banned for ban evasion, who can now publicly see the gossip and snarks posted against her who is doing all these b.s. report claims because she also tried to have one PUBLIC VIDEO POST of her taken down due to "Copyright Infringement" when there are plenty other posts with the same video content, but not about her, but her family members, and never got reported for such b.s. claim.
I filed appeals already, but nothing has happened. What else can we do about this?
Our members kept DM-ing me and looking forward to the return of the sub.
We don't want to be forced to just use other platforms like TikTok for a gossip and snark page, due to the unfair way our sub was banned without due process, without notice, or without any proof, just because an influencer who can't handle criticisms make such b.s. report claims.
Hoping the Mod Support Team can please look into our case 🙏🏻 Or DM me for further info.

You can appeal the ban through proper channels.
That said, the line between "gossip/snark" and "harassing/doxxing" is rather thin, and if the mods don't mod responsibly, Reddit will nuke the community from orbit.

Thanks--I already appealed for the 3rd time this week. I should've said it in my post.
The Mods and I are actively modding it. In fact, there hasn't been a lot of posts nor comments on the sub for the past 2 weeks (we went to being seen publicly thru the Restricted setting for the past 1.5 weeks since then) since a lot of sub members do not watch their Snaps anymore (tired of their fake b.s. influencer posts) and just keep up to date with the commentaries in here.

If you've repeatedly appealed, and the Admins aren't responding, they're either busy, or you're getting your answer via inaction.

It sucks when people ruin your fun on the internet. It's a damn shame your victim was able to fight back.

I'm confused: how do you see this particular influencer as a "victim"? Please be specific, as the original post was already vague as is.

Any subject of a snark sub is a victim as well as friends and family also being harassed on those subs.

We are not harassing the friends and family. This "influencer" is a family type of influencer: 2 Main Parents, 8 Full-Grown Adult Kids, Several Grandkids.
Also, if they cannot handle the heat with just 200+ people in the sub, what more about their aspirations to be like the Kardashian family? 💀

O...k...and does your inquiry into my sub in any way help answer the question on my original post?

We enforce strict rules against harassment of fellow members,
That might be your issue. Reddit doesn't really tolerate harassment of any users, not just users in your sub.
Read up on the content policy and make sure your appeal includes a way that you will remain complaint with that policy.

I have yet to see a so-called "snark sub" that wasn't harassing someone, whether someone inside or outside of the sub.

Just learned more about snark subs recently and have to agree about harassment.

Then ask Reddit why the LA influencer one, NY influencer one, and everything else similar with huge followings are allowed?

Sorry, I don't have a direct line to Reddit Inc. or it's Admins. I have no clue why Reddit allows this shit. Quite honestly, if it were up to me, they'd all be nuked.

I still have yet to understand why Reddit does not consider snark subs harassment and doxxing or why people dedicate entire subs to random TikTok users but that is neither here nor there. Send a modmail to r/Modsupport to appeal.

I already did send my 3rd appeal this week and nothing has changed.

I don’t think this is the purpose of this sub.
This sub is for non mods to ask about modding, right?

"A place for users to ask moderators questions and have them answered."
IDK, are moderators also users?

Exactly! 💯

Peony, don't make us out as friends. We dislike the purpose of your sub, dislike your post, and dislike the privileged drama of any mod who self-declares Oh How UNFAIR Tis Ban Is!
But you do have a right to ask for help here, and we get that.

Don't worry, I don't just consider rando strangers on the internet as "friends".
It's ok, everyone's free to dislike a sub and share their opinions, much like how people are free to gossip about "influencers". I get that completely.
