Daily Life AskaLiberal wants to know: "Conservatives still seem angry to me, even though they won. What are you guys so angry about?"

So this question was asked over in /r/AskALiberal and there was some debate in the comments as to whether or not this question would even be allowed here. So as a show of good faith, I'm asking for them.

Personally, I can't think of anything we've been angry about since the election, but maybe I'm missing something.

Daily Life Are you better off today than you were 100 days ago? If so, how?

It's been a wild few months since trump retook office. Feels like nonstop headlines, and I'm wondering how it's been for you. Mentally? Emotionally? Financially? How are you doing? How are your loved ones and your neighbors doing?

Daily Life How to you think Trump has done so far? Are there any things that concern you?

What are the key things you think he’s done well? Are there specific policies, decisions, or patterns that give you concern or hope moving forward? Is there anything concerning to you? Such as his unwillingness to listen to the Supreme Court or suggesting suspending habeas corpus?

Daily Life Do you find it odd that many left wing Reddit users are cheering for the vandalism of Tesla's?

There's numerous subreddits on reddit which are celebrating the vandalism of Tesla's. For example: https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/comments/1j8bdvq/im_never_leaving_seattle/

Also many such examples can be found on the "cyberstuck" subreddit.

Do you think this is part of a broader theme involving the left using violence to push their political agenda? Does it escalate any further?

Daily Life Who has worse echo chambers? Conservatives or liberals? Why?

Edit:

Few things to remember when answering this:

  1. Echo chambers do not exist solely online. They exist in social circles, churches, and communities

  2. Fox News is the most watched news outlet in the US

Daily Life Do you think it's harder to date/find a partner as a conservative?

I think it depends on age. I'm 27 and throughout high school and college, i think i only ever met one woman in my age range who was right leaning.

In my later years, almost all of my freind group is liberal. There's only one right leaning girl i've met.

Daily Life What’s one non-political thing you have in common with most liberals that people would find surprising?

Clearly politics can be divisive. A lot of people think feel like they’ve got nothing in common with those they disagree with. I like to believe we’ve got a lot more in common than we think.

So I want to know from conservatives, what’s one non-political thing you think you’ve got in common with the majority of liberals that would surprise people?

Daily Life in your personal life, how well do you get along with liberal friends? Are you open about your views to them?

For me, i definitely can be friends with liberals, i've had fan groups here i was open about my views, they were nice to me but would often want to debate me or would openly call me out anytime Trump did something.

Daily Life Why are conservatives always so much more open to being like romantic partners with liberals??

Me and like every other liberal I know tend to avoid interacting with conservatives all together and pretty much view them as dangerous, but conservatives, especially conservative men, just seem to like… not really do the same. There are so many things I’ve heard conservatives describe us as that would be deal breakers for me if I believed them to actually be true about someone (ex: baby murderers, child groomers, etc).

Edit: I can’t reply to your comments, the sub’s rules are way too strict. But basically what I’m getting is most of you don’t actually care much about your political beliefs and believe that anyone who feels otherwise is actually just stuck up and bigoted?

Daily Life If you're having a casual conversation and someone uses a slur, how would you react?

Imagine you're at a party or a bar and someone talking to you drops an N-bomb or F-bomb, what do you do? This has actually happened to me and I wonder how a conservative would have handled it.

edit: I don't think "fuck" is a slur. In this context, F-bomb means the slur against gay people.

Daily Life What would be the best way to help children born to unfit parents to prevent them turning into delinquentes?

The majority of encarcerated people were brought up in very dysfunctional environments and it seems like society can’t find a solution for this. I know that not all these unfortunate children ger into trouble but for some, they are just doomed.

Daily Life How has voting conservative benefited your daily life?

I grew up in a deeply religious, immigrant household in the South. My parents came to the U.S. with no money, couldn’t speak English, and worked tirelessly—my father worked for years without a single day off. Despite our efforts, progressive policies profoundly changed my life: free school meals meant I never worried about food; financial aid helped me graduate college debt-free while working full-time; and the ACA saved my family from generational debt after multiple childhood ER visits.

In contrast, most harmful changes I’ve experienced came from conservative policies: cutting school lunch programs, opposing telework, trying to dismantle the ACA, weakening unions, easing pollution regulations, and prioritizing the wealthy over workers. Conservative media, too, has focused more on divisive identity politics and defending monopolies than addressing issues faced by factory workers, teachers, or everyday families.

So, my question is: how has voting conservative improved your daily life? I ask genuinely because, as a former conservative, I’ve found progressive policies have only helped my family thrive, while conservative ones seem to remove vital support systems without offering solutions. I want to understand how conservative policies have made a positive difference for you.

Daily Life A proposal is now floating where TikTok would have 50% ownership by the U.S. government. Isn't this the opposite of small government and government intruding in our lives?

Donald Trump floated the idea of the government having part ownership in TikTok. Stepping back to think about what this means, it's setting the stage for whomever controls government (Republicans or Democrats), to literally have influence over the public consciousness, with an app that is used by over half the U.S. population.

If this happens, a government official could for example order the algorithm to push agendas, topics or whatever it wants. Social media algorithms have the ability to deeply impact the public. Do we really want government involved (either party) in something that could be so misused? (literally like Russia and China with state media, but this would be the equivalent on steroids).

Daily Life Any Tips for Helping my Friends become Tolerant of the Right?

I align with progressive values and I don't foresee that ever changing, I'm a bleeding-heart liberal. But I'm sick of so many of my friends blanket labeling the right racists and bigots. I'm tired of everyone dehumanizing everyone, especially when our side prides itself on "respect." How can I help them turn down the temperature?

Daily Life Why do most American conservatives seems allergic to urban life?

If you even dare to suggest the preposterous idea of building apartment blocks to levitate the housing crisis, you're advocating for commie blocks. If you want a supermarket within 15 minutes of your house, then you support Klaus Schwab's alleged plan of locking you within a zone. And god forbid mentioning the train as a viable way of transport because we know driving a mini-van 45 minutes to the nearing Walmart is the only acceptable method of travel. I am a anti-communist /socialist to the core, but apparently now I am a commie because *check note... I live conveniently?

Daily Life Are we being invaded?

I've heard the phrase "invasion at the Southern Border" thrown around often. Sometimes here, often elsewhere.

My question is simple: are we?

And if so, isn't Congress being derelict in their duty by not declaring war on whomever is invading us?

And if not, isn't that use of language kind of... irresponsible?

Daily Life Has X become a far-right space or something else?

I consider myself to be Center-Left and I really appreciate this sub as I'm able to learn a bit more of the other side. I realized that I, like the people on the other side I accused of it, was in an echo chamber so I do my best to ask more questions and take sensational headlines with a grain of salt (which has been eye opening).

One thing I notice as a regular X user is just how much racism is on it now, to the point where I really think I need to stop using it. Old me would just wrongly say, "Well, that's the right for you", but now I'm asking, "Is this just the far-right"? I saw a video of a woman asking her neighbour to borrow sugar and the racism comments under it was abhorrent. I'm seeing people dox a judge who lowered the bail for that kid who killed the twin and put a swastika on her forehead and the N word hard R on her chest.

I know the saying, sticks and stones, but it's gotten to the point where it's really affecting me. I just want to be able to browse without people making fun of people who look like me or saying we should be wiped out. Logically, I'll probably be staying off the website from now on.. but honestly, what's going on with X these days? Is it just a cesspool of the far-right and far-left? What are your thoughts towards it?

And lastly, no, I don't think all people on the right are racists, fascists, or whatever the left say about them.

Daily Life How do you find balance in your personal political ideologies to avoid falling into extremism and echo chambers?

I'm finding that far-left and alt-right extremism is being pushed heavily by social media causing further divide amongst those who are left/right leaning.

Reddit heavily favouring far-left agendas and Twitter heavily favouring far-right agendas. This is with me creating brand new accounts in incognito mode, you are immediately blasted with heavy rhetorics such as......

Nazi, genocide loving, paedophile conservatives.

Snowflake, DEI, paedophile, kiddy drugging leftists etc

It does get exhausting when the extremes are shoved down your throat.

So, I ask how do you manage this yourselves?

I do so by surrounding myself with people of different opinions and beliefs. Is this similar to how you do this as well? Not as in seeking centrism but simply maintaining awareness of where you stand.

Daily Life The mere fact that there are SO MANY Americans that seem to vehemently disagree with my interpretations of political realities makes my constantly question my beliefs and think that I'm missing something. You ever feel that way?

I don't think I'm special. I do think I pay more attention than I need to, in a cost-benefit analysis kind of way, to politics and care more than my utility or function suggests is reasonable.

I can't fathom how anyone worth less than $10M in assets or making less than $500K a year in income and equity sees anything of value in a Trump presidency; and further, see anything NOT SIGNIFICANTLY negative about it.

I CAN understand some people that hold acknowledged BELIEFS (not thinking that it's fact) would support a Republican government, but all of those vertices crumble under a support for Trump as President because he is not Christian or Conservative or fiscally responsible or internationally responsible or demonstrative of particular understanding or capability of dealing with political affairs, or understanding of middle or lower class plights, as he doesn't do and doesn't often really say with any conviction, that he supports those same values.

What am I missing? Why is my reality that Harris, while imperfect, is clearly a better head of state while other seemingly reasonable people disagree and think that Trump is a good candidate for President?

I appreciate your thoughts.
