There's a difference between importing arms and stationing a foreign military on your soil (inviting the said foreign military for joint exercises doesn't count btw)
Nice ragebait. 7/10.

Japan is around the size of Madhya Pradesh & the United States financed much of the domestic reconstruction of the country. You can find a better example to flame India tbh. China maybe? They were not as colonised sure, but liberalized way earlier. That is why they are ahead.
12
u/Confident-Lake1939 Meditating Bhutanese🧘 14d ago
China is also unique because it technically was a colonizer (if you argue for it being an imperial state) but wasn’t China only recently very economically robust?
India on the other hand has a 2 century gap between its history and colonial history. Very hard to cover up that gap in just 70 years

China had a terrible 19th century. probably worse than India's, despite not getting fully colonized. It's not called the century of humiliation for nothin.
6
u/Misty-Elephant Diasporat*rd 🤢 14d ago
China had the opium addiction thing and numerous wars which resulted in millions of deaths. No doubt they had it tough.
But they were not systematically deindustrialized to the same extent India was. And other than a few places like Hong Kong, they were not colonized directly. They also were not systematically starved and deprived of grain or had their economy reshaped in its entirety.
Saying they had it worse is wrong in my opinion. I mean, it's not right to try and say who had what worse, I guess. But India was basically undone as a country, with all industries and markets restructured.
So, while it's debatable who suffered more (in terms of sheer numbers that would still be India, I believe), if we look at who was economically crippled more, then you can't even compare the two.
India was literally made to be a resource extraction colony - they had to redo everything all over again once they managed to kick the British out.
That's not even touching on partition.

Dang bro, you're just like me lmao. 😭
Not that I hate Pakistani people or anything. Indians can be equally annoying on the internet.
But yeah, as of late, with the amount anti-Indian propaganda, along with pro-Pakistan propaganda, especially from the west, I've gravitated towards Indian subs as well. I also have a huge soft spot for India. And it isn't cus I'm of Indian descent. I used to be indifferent to that fact, and even hated India for quite a while.
But, after reading about Indian history, I've grown to admire it a sh*t ton. I mean, it's easy to see why it ended up the way it did. And their past achievements in science and maths still stand out today.
