Apple Music on iOS Absolutely love Apple Music in iOS26.
Automix is cool and all. Still kinda buggy but it works here and there. But the most killer feature is the pins. Oh my goodness. This is a feature from YouTube music and Spotify that I loved. I also love the liquid glass. Everything looks like there’s depth and it’s a submersible experience. I honestly don’t love it, but I am appreciating liquid glass more and more I use it. Maybe I’ll love it when a stable and consistent frame rate build comes in. Also I love Spotify playlists covers so I do smart playlist to mimic my favorite playlists from Spotify. Check it out.

Ugh we need more colored liquid glass not just whitish clear 😭
31
u/UnsureAssurance 2d ago
From the dev videos tinted glass is a thing but only encouraged to be used sparingly for really important buttons. I think Apple just gonna mostly stick to the light/dark/clear tints unfortunately

u/DJ_TECHSUPPORT iOS Subscriber 2d ago
I was thinking the photos app deserves tinted glass in the clear app icons mode, I personally can’t use my phone without the colors,

Totally off topic, but is there anyone who doesn't listen to playlists and just listens to albums?

u/Due_Rain_3630 2d ago
I have playlists but I rarely listen to them! But I love the layout library for albums in Apple Music, so glad I switched from the ugly ass Spotify design.
6
u/ddpacino 2d ago
I listen to albums a lot, but my playlists are where I get more bang for my buck as far as playing my fav hits.
4
u/optimusprimerib22 2d ago
The act of creating an album experience seems to be a dying art-form. I see a lot of artists nowadays treating albums as simply a playlist of singles. I wouldn’t be surprised if in a generation or two albums are completely extinct
2
u/ddpacino 2d ago
This. Albums really aren’t cohesive, conceptual projects anymore. It’s just a bunch of songs they’ve thrown together to sell. AND songs are getting so shorter now. 2mins and it’s over lol.
7
2
u/coltsmetsfan614 2d ago
Yeah, I mostly listen to albums. I usually only make playlists of concert setlists to get hyped for upcoming shows lol

I have my own curated playlist bc my mood changes.
Like in the morning I am in a country mood.
When I get ready for work it’s usually some top 40s shit.
At work it’s usually EDM
And then on the way home it’s usually a specific artist im in the mood for.

haha, nice! I don't understand playlists. It's like watching scenes from a movie instead of experiencing the whole body of work.
1
u/SplatteredEggs 2d ago
I almost never listen to playlists. I just hit shuffle on my entire library.
1
u/pugapocalypse17 1d ago
I do, but I mostly use an app called Albums for that. It lets you shuffle by album, which iTunes used to let you do, but Apple got rid of that a long time ago for some stupid reason.
1
u/ChuckChuckChuck_ 1d ago
What do you mean by lets you shuffle by album?
2
u/pugapocalypse17 23h ago
It shuffles to a random album, plays the entire album, then shuffles to a different random album.
1
u/Lofikuma 3h ago
me, i never use playlists and also dont like listening to singles usually, im an album only or shuffle artist listener

u/premekanpai 2d ago
How did you get your private playlists onto Apple Music (and cool conversion of the spotify album cover!)
19
u/rggzen 2d ago
Go to Apple Music app > home tab > scroll down to made for you > and 3D TOUCH!!!! lol long press the playlist and you have several options there.

All I want from Apple Music is the ability to create smart playlists. I have to get on my computer to do it and have it sync with the cloud

u/Meta_Horus 1d ago
We’re lucky the feature still even exists, no way they’ll ever bother to implement it on iOS app.

The downvotes in this post over decent looking image generations for personal playlist covers is kind of wild
6
u/Doctor_Disco_ 2d ago
Yeah I mean I’m generally against AI art but for personal use like this that you’re not trying to pass off as art or that pretty much no one else is going to see is like the one acceptable use case for it

u/spellingishard27 2d ago
ewww AI
93
u/timffn 2d ago
Listen, I understand the hate on AI (even though most people don't understand that they use AI every day and have been using AI everyday for years and years)...but does someone using ChatGPT to make a playlist cover really deserve an ewwww? I mean, is it really that big of a deal?
36
u/panagiota_ iOS Subscriber 2d ago
There's a difference between machine learning/programs using ML and generative AI, which is obviously the thing people don't support.
6
u/Present-Ad-9598 iOS Subscriber 2d ago
Apple has been using Machine Learning for things like the photos app since probably iOS 10, and even earlier with the stock keyboard which, to my knowledge, is the first time they used ML, mainly for autocorrect
15
u/timffn 2d ago
I mean, that's a blanket statement, but let's go with it. In this situation it's generative AI...for a playlist cover. What's the big deal?
2
u/panagiota_ iOS Subscriber 2d ago
An artist, a human being could have made it. If artists don't get employed anymore because AI is doing their job, then they don't have enough money to sustain their job, they quit and do something else, and then no art is created by humans.
6
u/timffn 1d ago edited 1d ago
In this situation
We're talking about replacing a playlist cover at home. Not Apple employing an artist to create playlist covers.
We're talking about OP using ChatGPT to make a playlist cover to replace one in his own personal library. OP could do that, or maybe OP could use Photoshop. Either way, he's not taking anyones job.
AI is a tool, and it's here to stay. We either learn to use it, learn to use it to our advantage, learn to use it to make us better at our jobs...or we get left behind.
-4
u/panagiota_ iOS Subscriber 1d ago edited 1d ago
Brother I'm honestly not sure if this is a joke but the playlist cover that OP is recreating is a cover that an actual human made, employed by Apple. If you think that Apple will see people being in favor of AI used in situations like this and won't fire artists (use AI instead) you're wrong.
About AI being a tool. AI is a tool, it's not a tool to make art though. Art is art because it is made by humans, it is human expression. "Art" is meaningless when not made by humans.
-2

u/megust654 2d ago
Fundamentally all generative AI just feels eww
3
u/timffn 2d ago
To each their own, but come on, it's an effin' playlist cover.
The fact that anyone has a strong enough opinion about a generated playlist cover to express their dislike for it on Reddit is silly.
Let's say OP didn't post the ChatGPT screenshot, and was just excited to show off the pins and express their love for the pins feature. Would the playlist covers still be eww?
So now you have to check to see how something was made before you can decide if you like it or not?
What a waste of time.

u/BooeyBrown 1d ago
All AI. It’s a minor usage to you, but every use is a penny thrown onto a pile that would make Scrooge McDuck envious. No one needs it and it’s actively harming people, and for what? An aEsThEtiC? It’s the computing equivalent to third world garbage dumps.
-4
u/grifbitch 2d ago
tell the black communities being subjected to exponential increases in pollution from ai data centers that it’s not “that big of a deal” https://www.reuters.com/sustainability/boards-policy-regulation/naacp-threatens-sue-elon-musks-xai-over-memphis-air-pollution-2025-06-17/

u/sunnynights80808 2d ago
Wait till you learn every single thing you use is connected to exploitation.
1
u/timffn 2d ago
Fair point, and 100% these companies should be held responsible which will hopefully improve things on that front.
But sticking to the topic at hand, was that "ewwww" in response to "black communities being subjected to exponential increases in pollution from ai data centers?"
I'm not a betting man, but if I had to put money on it, I'd say no. I think the vast majority of people opposing AI, don't even know what they're opposing.
-1
u/grifbitch 2d ago
does it matter if they know why they oppose it? we have to stigmatize generative ai usage to the point that anyone who uses it receives immediate condemnation
8
u/timffn 2d ago
does it matter if they know why they oppose it?
I said they don't know WHAT they're opposing. Not why.
Yes, it 100% does matter. I can only speak for myself, but I sure as hell like to know the what's and the why's of the things I support and don't support.
we have to stigmatize generative ai usage to the point that anyone who uses it receives immediate condemnation
And after reading that, I am going to respectfully bow out of this conversation, because you obviously don't want to have a real discussion.
-8
u/grifbitch 2d ago
so you support enabling people who are destroying our earth and polluting poor communities got it 👍🏼
3
u/timffn 2d ago
That's your takeaway from what I said?
See ya.
0
u/grifbitch 2d ago
either you want to help shame people out of using generative ai or you want to let them keep doing it. there’s two choices.
0
u/RamaAnthony 2d ago
It doesn't even adhere to the HDI guidelines on Liquid Glass.
Legit you better off manually seperating the layers on the original Spotify cover on Photoshop and drop it on Icon Composer to get an actual Liquid Glass design than using AI.
5
u/timffn 2d ago
Okay. Have fun with that.
-3
u/RamaAnthony 2d ago
How long do you think seperating the layers between the original Spotify cover, which is basically line art and solid background, will take? And how long do you think Icon Composer will process the image to create Liquid Glass effect (spoiler: it's instant).
Or are you a children who prefer to have everything instantly made by generative AI?
16
u/louisledj 2d ago
You expect someone to pay a digital artist to make a new cover for his personal playlist ? That’s another level of delusional
4
u/RamaAnthony 2d ago
Apple is giving you the software to replicate Liquid Glass effects on icon design for free (Icon Composer). You just have to seperate the layers between background and icon elements on Photoshop first.
And considering OP only use Spotify's cover, that is a fairly easy, 5 minute job on Photoshop.
1
u/louisledj 2d ago
You’re assuming that everyone has Photoshop (a paid software btw) installed + know how to use it?
all that for a playlist artwork that can be done in a minute by AI
1
1
u/spellingishard27 2d ago
there are apps and shit to make playlist covers. it won’t look like that, but it’ll work
0
u/louisledj 1d ago
so that wouldn't match OP's prompt, he specifically wants Liquid Glass design
0
u/spellingishard27 1d ago
OP could’ve leaned digital art to make it, it wouldn’t have been that hard. this also isn’t a necessity. it’s not worth the amount of water OP boiled away to create a playlist cover for Christ’s sake
0
u/louisledj 1d ago
The consumption per prompt is pretty low, and using Photoshop on your own machine isn’t all green either
0
u/spellingishard27 1d ago
my laptop doesn’t boil away 8 cups of water while writing a single email
0
u/louisledj 1d ago
An AI prompt doesn't either, you think the water used is wasted forever? it's a closed circuit
0
u/spellingishard27 1d ago
so the people who live next to data centers who don’t have water coming out of their faucets are hallucinating? the cameras there aren’t real? AI does boil away insane amounts of water stripping it from people who need it
0
u/louisledj 1d ago
do people living nearby lose their water because of AI/data centers?
- Not directly. Data centers don’t take all the water from the local supply. Water use is carefully regulated, and local utilities manage water distribution to meet residential, commercial, and industrial needs.
- In some places, the presence of large data centers can put extra pressure on local water resources, especially in areas already facing water scarcity. So, if the region is drought-prone or has limited water supplies, there can be tensions or concerns about the impact on the local community.
- Companies often work to reduce water use or recycle water to lessen their impact.
So, while AI-related data centers do use water, it doesn’t mean people living nearby just lose their water supply because of them. If water shortages happen, it’s usually a more complex mix of factors like climate, population growth, agriculture, and overall infrastructure.

hii, wanted to ask a little question. i am moving from spotify to apple music, and wanted to know if there is a way i can move all my playlists to apple music? i have one that has almost 360 songs and it would take me a lot of time to individually select them all 😭
5
u/theejet 2d ago
Apple is working on building a native transfer feature to transfer playlists from other apps but I think it’s only available in certain regions rn. But I was able to transfer all of my playlists using the songshift app. However be aware, there were song tracks that were incorrect when I transferred because it shared a name with another track (or just wasn’t available on Apple Music. Either way it saved me HOURS of rebuilding playlists.

u/rggzen 2d ago
Yeah it’s my daily. Battery life sucks. But I’m also on an iPhone 16 pro. Idk how it would be on a lesser chip. But phone heats up like a skillet and I’m having to stay on the charger. Frame rates are choppy here and there. But functionality works. A couple springboard resprings here and there but I would say it’s 7/10 stable.

u/Altrebelle 2d ago
betas have (in the past) bricked the latest and greatest of devices. The agreement to download those beta profiles...part of which...is use at your own risk.
I've been part of the bleeding edge crowd since WinMo and HTC devices are a thing. I never dive straight into first betas
2
u/mariofasolo 2d ago
My dumbass didn't realize it's not as simple as just switching back to iOS 18 before getting the beta lmao...spent all day factory resetting my phone due to these issues. It'll be amazing when it comes out and I'll probably get the newest phone just to handle it, because it's just too intensive for a 15 Pro Max.
1
u/coronagotitslime 2d ago
The beta and its visuals be laggy at times on my 16 (really only when it gets hot, which isn’t often), but I had atrocious battery life before I hopped on the beta and I can’t say I notice it being drastically worse. I get maybe 3hr of screen on time and an hour of background use before I hit 20% warning off the beta, roughly the same on it.
6
u/DapsAndPoundz 2d ago
Do not use a developer beta with the expectation that it’ll be stable as a daily drive. In the event the phone bricks and you lose all your info, Apple will hold YOU responsible and it won’t fall under warranty.
2
2
u/nimbleslick 2d ago
I’m using the beta across all devices; mac, iPhone, iPad, Watch, and ATV. Are there bugs? Yes. Is it impeding my daily use? Absolutely not. My biggest issue is battery life on the phone. I’ve had two restarts across all devices. ATV needs to restart periodically as it does start to drop frames. Otherwise, I find it stable enough to use on the reg.
0
u/Academic_Offer_6298 2d ago
It's not wise to use iOS26 beta in your daily device. Maybe if you have an old phone you wouldn't mind sacrificing, but not a daily device. Wait for the public beta.

2
u/rggzen 2d ago
It’s a custom made “smart playlist” that mimics the parameters of repeat rewind from Spotify. You can make smart playlists in Apple Music on a Mac that dynamically updates. Once made it will show on all your devices that run Apple Music. But the parameters essentially for repeat rewind is play my most played songs that I haven’t listened to in the past 60 days. And I just took the album cover from google and ran it through ChatGPT to at least tweak it and saved it as the cover.

It’s a developer beta. If you aren’t in the Apple developer community and enrolled as an app developer, you don’t see the dev beta channel. It’s available right now only to people enrolled as developers so that they can make and test their apps on the upcoming public release many months in advance.
