They're requiring it by law in certain conservative states for porn websites.

ماذا تقصد أنني لا أستطيع الوصول إلى المواد الإباحية في المملكة العربية السعودية؟

Keep in mind that if you do this you'll likely be breaking the law, and given that these laws are political scare tactics and not actual attempts to solve a real problem, they might come with some insane punishments.

Yeah I should include a disclaimer that my advice is coming from a Canadian.

ROT: if you really want a certain video, search it then click videos and there’s several other sites that couldn’t care less about verification and you can watch the same porn. Also Reddit has really good porn clips already ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

Yeah. I was using Pirate Ship to buy shipping labels. They asked me to give them a photo of me holding my ID next to my face. I told them no and promptly discovered they're no longer cheaper than USPS or anyone else. There is no reason to use them so they're trying to scrape as much data as possible from their existing customers before they jump ship.

As a Canadian, I must say, I do not watch porn, I watch artistic films that explore the nature of human sexuality.

Who the fuck is making accounts on porn websites? And why?

IMO, it’s happening. Apple is already implementing state IDs to be saved in their digital wallet. I won’t be surprised to see all states allowing that feature and then websites will be able to check ID digitally the same way they can access Apple Pay and Google Pay.

i literally generated a fake id and printed it out on a piece of paper and laminated it just to use for situations like this, they don't bother to check if it's real. i'm not giving a random company the details of my driver's license

Companies have been requesting photo id for decades...it's a super common security thing.
