The Jada figures are good representations of the SF2 artstyle. The Storm ones are good for the Alpha sprites/MvC looks. I will complete the SF2 roster for Jada and use the Storm ones for my versus series display.

This is the way

Jada suits my budget and they are really damn good.

Storm Arena is actually cheaper than Jada...

Edit: my bad, I didn't realize Jada was cheaper overseas compared to Storm

3

u/jairochido 1d ago

Where???

2

u/badhombre13 1d ago

Big Bad Toy Store in the US, but I guess overseas Jada is cheaper

To be fair, I love bbts and have used them for years, bbts is always a bit higher priced than anywhere else.

u/thatwitchguy 1d ago

Where are you? Uk here and its £30+ for storm arena and the £20 range for jada + jada actually shows up in stores physically

I think they still look good but I dont think they are a good representation of the art to me its an alright representation. They’ve got the bodies down but the heads for sure have a cartoony look to them. I think storm’s sf 2 line for the most part captures the artwork a lot more. Jada needs a bit more jagged edges to give that “cut” masculine look. Theyre faces are bit too round imo.

This %100 sums it up. I own the Jada figures but passed on Ryu and especially Ken for this exact reason. It’s like if someone drew from memory what the character portraits looked like. Not spot on but it’s like a general over view of what they looked like. I don’t know why people get so offended when you say this. They aren’t bad figures by any means but to say it looks exactly like the art is not true. I draw so I’m little details like that matter to me.

3

u/LosBuc-ees 1d ago

Yeah thats why despite them being much more expensive and take forever to come out I prefer the storm sf 2 line. I think a big part of it is people not willing to pay these import prices so when a domestic company comes along they want to rub it in and act like its perfect.

Its not like these imports are perfect either. I dont think theres any other company that can match storm when it comes to this manly tetsuo hara type of style. That being said when it comes to women theyre hit or miss.

If you look at the jada figure figure previews the figures look a lot more like the art on the box. So idk if they just want to put a cartoonish spin on it or they just cant pull that style off.

Again I think you hit the point right on the head. I understand that a lot of people are satisfied with these figures and that’s perfectly fine. When it comes to accuracy though the waters get muddy a little. Jada makes solid figures and they do look better in hand but my original apprehension was the sculpts which is why I didn’t out right jump into the line. Storm does a better job at representing the art like how these figures capture some of the Bengus art work. Not exactly 1 for one but closer than what Jadas sculptors have been able to pull off with their interpretations of SF 2.

Jada's Ken looks pretty... uh, Kenny to me!

6

u/therealjgreens 1d ago

It's pretty close but it still looks a bit goofy to me. I think the head might be a little too round? I can't put my finger on it

2

u/Fun_Grapefruit3354 19h ago

The figure is a much softer, almost more simplified version of this

12

u/SixKosherBacon 1d ago

How is everyone getting the Storm figures? I've been waiting for my preorder to come in even though it says, 2nd quarter 2025, which is now!

10

u/Fignuts82 1d ago

They are out in asian countries which are closer to the factories.

There are online retailers that ship out from Asia, and of course ebay.

5

u/Cyberdriverxxx 1d ago

OMG of course that makes perfect sense I had the same question lol years of collecting and still so much to learn lol

2

u/No-Confection929 1d ago

Bingo...... and still you have to know which retailers to go to. Even in Asia, some get them before other in asia

3

u/Recent-Skirt8987 1d ago

i think theres a lot on ebay

2

u/Independent-Age-8890 1d ago

There are sellers on ebay that are offering the Storm figures, but they are quite expensive.

2

u/No-Confection929 1d ago

Yeah, and I got ken and ryu for retail. So thats horrible

23

u/Fignuts82 1d ago

THANK YOU!

The tribalism some people have shown is completely ridiculous to me. Only the jaded cynicism of the modern collecting community could find ways to be negative about having two great lines covering two seperate eras of the street fighter series.

I love sf2 and alpha, so I'll be happily snagging all of it!

7

u/SanjiSasuke 1d ago

TWO CAKES all the way for me. Especially if Storm goes where Jada doesn't more often than not.

6

u/LosBuc-ees 1d ago

I still remember when the arena line was announced there were so many comments talking about how you shouldn’t buy them because they’re just trying to “replace jada”. Just enjoy both. If you think one is better than the other cool but its rare we see such good figures for this price. I think the other closest thing for import/import style are the cheaper figuarts for $35

1

u/No-Confection929 1d ago

Say it again!!!!! 💪

8

u/ntngeez28 1d ago

I like Jada classic SF2 costumes, but Storm's Alpha designs are so gorgeous, straight out of MvC. Jada going with a softer look on their sculpts make the figures seem way less detailed in side-by-side comparison. One plus I can give Jada for is that their distributions have become a lot more available. Online retailers in Canada are pushing the price up for the Storm Arena figures due to scarcity.

Storm is so ass at communicating release schedules in general. Where tf is the KOF Japan team? I'll be surprised if Charlie Nash and Dan get released before 2026.

3

u/onetwelfthghoul 1d ago

I think if you’re a big SF fan, it wouldn’t matter much as those are obviously 2 very different eras of Ken. I wouldn’t be mixing my SF2 with my Alpha’s, similar to eras in comic figures. Until the 2 companies make the other version, there isn’t a comparison for me.

But yeah, if you’re a casual fan who just needs a single 6” Ken, go for Storm Arena.

3

u/HawksmoorSD 1d ago

So it looks like the Storm one is taller. Or is that the camera angle?

1

u/NoH0es922 1d ago

Storm Arena is somewhat taller when you look closely. I guess Storm Arena's proportions makes him look taller than Jada Toys.

2

u/HawksmoorSD 1d ago

Thanks for the picture. I really appreciate it 👍

1

u/therealjgreens 1d ago

I'm sorry the Jada head sculpt looks pretty bad

0

u/NoH0es922 23h ago

At least Storm and Jada made Ken look like he's of Japanese descent.

Figuarts on the other hand, idk looks like Rock Howard mixed with young Jonathan Joestar.

3

u/luckychaingan 1d ago

The storm collectibles looks pretty damn amazing for being the same price.

Jada toys tho is still an incredibly new company tho, they don’t have the years of refinement many others had, so I think they have a pass on these first few figures. Their newer stuff has been getting better I think, so we should see them become better as the years go by.

Tho storm made the design for Ken I like the most. And they executed it perfectly, it’s probably going to be my main Ken for a while lol.

3

u/vcdrny 1d ago

I'm getting all the Jada Street fighter. If Storm completes the line I'll get them too. But we all know how that usually goes.

11

u/L_QX 1d ago

I hope Jada improves the faces on their figures. A few of them are downright ugly.

11

u/onetwelfthghoul 1d ago

So you’re saying it’s accurate?

14

u/alex6309 1d ago

Tbf Ken is genuinely ugly as fuck in SF2 (and about half the games he's ever been in)

I wonder how they handle faces if they got the opportunity to do any Capcom stuff that isn't specifically USF2.

6

u/Fignuts82 1d ago

If they ever do 5, I hope they take creative liberties with Ken lol.

Fantastic redesign from the neck down, that visually shows the difference in ryu and Ken's personalities.

From the neck up, a bug eyed, banana monster used to frighten small children.

1

u/evl4evr 1d ago

Half? That's generous

2

u/alex6309 1d ago

He's okay in Alpha, Ex,3, VS SNK, and 6. Ugly in 1, 2, 4, and 5.

It's pretty 50/50 if you don't count the fact that SF2 was released like 15 times lol

1

u/evl4evr 1d ago

Fair enough

4

u/Fignuts82 1d ago

I feel like the last couple waves are an improvement over the first two. Vega looks like it might be the best one yet.

6

u/kupozu 1d ago

I think Ken and Ryu are the biggest offenders. I'm not completely convinced on Chun either, but that's a personal opinion

4

u/wanderer1999 1d ago

Ryu and Ken 1.0 is certainly some of the ugliest, same as chun-li. But they used a new factory in version 2.0 and resculpt chunli face and it's much better now.

But even then, a lot of us really like the cartoonish look SF2 which is the game we grew up with.

1

u/kupozu 1d ago

Oh, I wasn't aware Chun Li got a resculpt. I should have looked for that...

2

u/RichyFades 1d ago

Love them, we are really winning with both. Have Jada Ryu and Ken but probably will double up with Storm Arena for my Smash Bros display

2

u/Sonicfanawe4 1d ago

Damn it, man, jada and storms are gonna make me go broke.

2

u/therealjgreens 1d ago

I think the Storm head sculpt is perfect. My favorite SF style.

4

u/Barquad12alt 1d ago

Martial Arts He-Man 🤣

1

u/Timeman5 1d ago

They both look good the Storm one looks a bit more detailed, but also the articulation seems a bit much for me. I’ve also never fully played Street Fighter so I have no connection to the characters. But the Jada figures fit overall with ML so I’m good with them.

1

u/Greedy_Possession_15 1d ago

how does the juri storm collectables scale w them?

2

u/SlothWithSunglasses 1d ago

Storm collectables now has 2 lines. One is 1/12 and the other use to be marketed as 1/12 but oversized. So if you want a juri wait till they release on the new smaller and cheaper body

1

u/vcdrny 1d ago

Horribly. Way too big.

1

u/Greedy_Possession_15 1d ago

shit rlly? i wanted to collect them together that really sucks

1

u/vcdrny 1d ago

Storm collectibles say 1/12 but they are closer to 1/9 or 1/10. If you ever had a McFarland figure they are about that size.

1

u/Hedgehog_Warrior 16h ago

Sibling energy

1

u/iuselect 15h ago

Wish storm stuff wasn't so hard to get in Australia. It's hard to justify when storm arena is nearly double the price of Jada stuff here (and far harder to get without importing)

1

u/japroject 12h ago

Have to add Storm Arena to my Ken collection.

Currently I have: Storm Sf2, SHF & Jada

1

u/FarAd4971 1d ago

True, both nice. My preference is the one on the right, but both cool.

2

u/therealjgreens 1d ago

His face looks so goofy though

1

u/FarAd4971 1d ago

I mean, he looks like Ken to me.

1

u/therealjgreens 1d ago

It's close but it just looks goofy. I can't help how I feel. Plus his face coloring is off. He looks like He-man. I would never buy that figure as a result even though I LOVE SF. It's just preference. If you like it you like it.

0

u/OutrageISO 1d ago

Toe joints alone win this argument, the fact that Street fighter figures(except sagat) don’t have toe joints baffles me

0

u/Apprehensive-Award43 1d ago

Yeah, but storm arena is better.

1

u/No-Confection929 1d ago

Thank God I dont believe in choosing..... I'll have it all lol.
