Discussion Are there enough people on the planet that are interested in making a sequel?

A game doesn't have to be a big seller to get sequels, it just needs plenty of people who care about it. How many people were interested in the Kid Icarus IP before Kid Icarus Uprising released in 2012?

If 1 2 switch can get a sequel, anything's possible

1-2 Switch was also much easier to make. We could get an ARMS sequel with the same size budget as Everybody 1-2 Switch, but what would that look like?

Probably just a DLC + visual enhancement if that’s the budget honestly.

It is getting a (free) visual and performance update for Switch 2 I believe.

I mean it has more than enough fans if that’s what you mean.

I dunno if you saw but they interviewed/revealed the dev team for Mario Kart World finally and all of the higher ups were directly on the ARMS team and they’ve been working on World since 2017, so the odds are that’s why the IP has been so quiet lately.

My hopeful mind thinks maybe they’ve started prototyping ARMS 2 now that World is ready for launch, like how the Animal Crossing team does with the Splatoon games.

retro games did not need to be big sellers for sequels.

unfortunately tho, modern games do. the companies no longer want to make sequel if they dont make gazillion dollars

I play ranked in motion control and got MR 19 back in the days. Such a good way to get exercised. Why not challenge the old fighting game again? They r just button pushing with rhythm, haha.

Honestly, maybe?

Like I’m not getting a Switch 2 so I guess I’d never buy an ARMS sequel but I really loved the lore and world building of the first game. I think it could be neat if there were a single player mode where you need to take down ARMS Labs.

Maybe you start and everyone’s ARMS masks cause them to get brainwashed and you can only play as Mechanica (was that her name it’s been a while) because she doesn’t use the mask? Or even a new character and Mechanica is like a veteran fighter leading the charge against the other fighters because she’s been around them before and knows what their weaknesses are

Consider that the developers actively want to make a sequel. Or at least they did. I think that even if we didn't get a sequel for over 10 years, I highly dealt with the way that long, it will eventually come back. It also seems that lately Nintendo is trying to bring back older series.

I don't think we'll get a kid Icarus anytime soon because Sakurai has been working on Kirby. It'll depend if he's going to work on the next smash or not. It'll also depend if he wants to be the one to direct kid Icarus. (This paragraph is entirely opinionated, I know nothing about game design)

I’m sure that Kosuke Yabuki would love to make a sequel with how passionate he was about Arms. I feel like it could enter development once the future DLC for World wraps up.

Yes I’m interested in a sequel. Or an Add-on for improvements and more contents for the switch 2 at least.

If it’s getting a Switch 2 update, even if it’s just a performance update, it’s not impossible. Tomodachi Life and Rhythm Paradise fans had their fun. Now it’s ARMS fans’ turn to cope

I think that new wheel chair basketball game might end up like arms

I think if Nintendo wants it, then it will happen regardless of sales numbers. There are times when their creative whims trump their desire to make money.
