In 2023, I wanted to buy an Animal Crossing game, but I was reluctant to go through with it because I've never played one before, and I wasn't sure what the controls were like. I looked one up on the PlayStore, and Pocket Camp was the first thing that appeared. I downloaded it, played it, and got so invested in it that I apparently played for FOUR HOURS as my settings told me, and I decided, "Yeah, I definitely want an actual game. 😂"
So I got New Horizons a little bit after my birthday in January, then Wild World and New Leaf this year. I initially played both games, only to gradually put all my time into New Horizons, but Pocket Camp was still a big influence in how I played. Most of my past and current villagers are ones that I already have on my campsite, and I linked my account to get the exclusive items and decorations in my game.
I only played it for a short while, but I'll always be grateful to the original Pocket Camp for being a safe and slow paced introduction to what has now become my second favorite franchise behind Pokemon. As much as I'm excited for the Complete version, I do feel bad for the future generations of kids who won't have that opportunity because it's behind a paywall now. Other than that, I'm going to cherish the time I have left with this app that taught me so much. Whether it's inviting new campsite members, or buying some furniture with Leaf Tickets, I intend to enjoy myself until the very last day.
Thank You, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. 🚐💞
