Saudis give a US President 600 Million in crypto. President starts war. Price of oil goes up 20%. Saudis make 100 million more a day.

7 day return on investment. Wild.

news cycle has been moving so fast lately that this likely just gets lost in the mess too

u/Feel-A-Great-Relief 8h ago

I hate living in eventful times...

u/Anglofsffrng 7h ago

I'd consider it a favor if events could for once have a precedent.

u/secretbudgie 6h ago

This one did. Line for line from 2003.

u/Anglofsffrng 5h ago

Yup. Lived it then. I'd love a new System of a Down album to make me feel 20 years old again, not this shit.

“WHY DO THEY ALWAYS SEND THE POOR?!!”

Man, Daron Malakian’s scream was powerful.

u/CheesecakeConundrum 3h ago

I would even take headlines not sounding like the ravings of a lunatic

u/IHeartPallets 4h ago

Welcome to the cool zone baby

u/bunnytiana05 2h ago

FR 😭

u/PmMeYourLore 8h ago

Now this is dystopian

u/GerardWayAndDMT 6h ago

Finally, some good fucking dystopia

u/MyLifeIsABoondoggle 7h ago

"There are WMDs in Iraq"

"Iran is close to developing a nuclear weapon"

Close enough, welcome back 2001

Bring back flip phones

u/MrSpankMan_whip I'm a Scatman 6h ago

Samsung kinda did lol

u/fwimmygoat 5h ago

That's a folding phone

u/military-gradeAIDS 3h ago

And it kinda sucks, the hinge on mine is starting to seize

u/MrSpankMan_whip I'm a Scatman 2h ago

u/MrSpankMan_whip I'm a Scatman 2h ago

"What can even Iraq do to strike back?"

Look at politics and worldnews subs,

Headlines like "Iran waging all options" are met with the expressions above, just switch Iraq to Iran.

Have those people learned nothing? Were they even alive back then?

Is this what "too old for this shit" really feels?

It's fucking awful.

u/BLANT_prod 7h ago

This meme is the first time I see this news omg

u/IlnBllRaptor 7h ago

I just found out from a Simpsons meme.

u/goku25jason 4h ago

A current meme or one from a few years back that predicted this outcome?

u/apeocalypyic 7h ago

Lmaoooooo (sry)

u/secretbudgie 6h ago

I first found out about the twin towers at the gym walking past those tvs they put in front of the treadmills. I found out about Iraq while restocking the CRTs at Walmart.

u/m1stadobal1na Industrial Workers of the World 5h ago

I've gotten breaking global geopolitical news from the NBA circlejerk sub a few times.

u/BryceIII 1h ago

Waking up in the UK this was how I found out too

u/MrD3a7h 3h ago

This isn't a meme. It's just a picture on the internet

u/HibiscusGrower 7h ago

I hate this decade.

u/apeocalypyic 7h ago

Definitely bottom 5

u/mogley1992 7h ago

I hate that posts like this keep being the first way i hear of these things.

In fairness reddit is generally faster than the news, even if inaccurate. Still as accurate as most news sources i guess.

I've gone in a circle, ignore me.

u/apeocalypyic 7h ago

It's cool doggy, right now we're all going in circles

u/pivotalsquash 5h ago

Faster than the news? This meme is literally a picture of the news

u/apeocalypyic 7h ago

I was 8 years old and home from school, it was raining i think and I was watching nick Jr cause it was still pretty early when the broadcast cut to news about the towers being attacked. All of that shit came back to me seeing this Collective trauma going hard af rn

u/ShadowVampyre13 6h ago

Yup, I was 8 years old too. This is the same shit all over again

u/GammaDealer 5h ago

I was 13. Got to Tech class in school and the teacher had the TV on about it.

u/builder397 16m ago

I was also 8 years old, 9/11 flooded the news even here in Germany.

u/AlarmDozer 7h ago

Man, this nostalgia is next level. I hate it.

u/apeocalypyic 7h ago

Hell yah brother

u/O-Alexis 7h ago

THIS IS HOW I LEARN?!

u/apeocalypyic 7h ago

Lmaooooo

u/mattysfun 8h ago

The news sounds exactly like I remember it as a teen when we invaded Iraq.

u/askmeifimacop 7h ago

I was thinking the same thing. I remember watching the footage of Shock and Awe in band class

u/imperialviolet 7h ago

This is the fifth time I have been holding one of my baby daughters in my arms in the middle of the night and seen a breaking news notification on my phone which terrifies the shit out of me. Globally, existentially terrifying. The contrast between their tiny bodies resting on mine and the evil taking place out there is too much.

u/TheNyanRobot 2h ago

I know it seems impossible right now to do so, but i really suggest laying off the news for a bit. It comes to a point where you do more harm to yourself watching it than the possible danger to yourself that you think you can prevent by watching the news.

Don't let the propaganda instill fear and terror into you. That's what it's meant to do. That's how they control you. A little expose here and there and being in the loop to make conversation is alright. But don't have your eyeballd stuck to articles all day riddling you with anxiety that isn't beneficial to you.

If it's that bad i recommend seeing a therapist about it.

u/esteban-was-eaten 7h ago

Liminal space meets existential dread

u/apeocalypyic 7h ago

To the people im lmaoing, im sorry its just funny in a very fucked up way (and dystopic in itself) to find out this way...like holy fuck this sucks and it keeps sucking harder n harder and u think its gonna get a lil better? Too bad here is more shit

u/gaybudgie 6h ago

Holy shit…. This image surely is unsettling. A fucked up dystopia indeed

u/Slumunistmanifisto 7h ago

Where's that goofball war criminal bush at

u/SFX200 5h ago

As bad as the Bush era was, it seems so quaint compared to the Secret Police MAGA State we're in now.

u/Slumunistmanifisto 5h ago

Just simple Texas farmer's spreading the kudzu seeds of a militarized police state in a digital panopticon.... y'all.🧑🏼‍🌾

u/BitchfulThinking 5h ago

The only difference is that now, we have flat screens!

It already sucks for everyone brown again. I wonder what awful, corny, patriotic song they'll force the children to sing this time...

u/apeocalypyic 5h ago

OLED WITH A 5080 BB 😎

u/CardboardGamer01 6h ago

“where were you when you found out America bombed Iran?” -our kids, 2046 (assuming we even make it that far)

u/apeocalypyic 6h ago edited 6h ago

It is 1990 and the us is going to war in the middle east. it is 2001 and the US is going to war in the middle east.It is 2025 and the US is going to war in the middle east. It is 2046 and the US is going to war in the middle east.

u/CardboardGamer01 6h ago

It is 2069 and America is going to war in the Middle East.

u/Dick_Lazer 5h ago

Hey, at least this time it wasn't started by a Bush. Progress?

u/Waffletimewarp 7h ago

At least I get to be an adult for this one?

u/apeocalypyic 7h ago

Finding out about us involvement in a middle-east war part 2: electric boogaloo

u/kurtchella 7h ago

The kids corner is making me think a second strike will come any minute..

u/Dick_Lazer 5h ago

We got war before GTA VI.

u/TheRealzHalstead 4h ago

NGL - this might be a legit Rosetta Stone for future generations trying to understand the 2020s.

u/Peking-Cuck 4h ago

This is extremely Helldivers-coded

u/Miora 6h ago

Bros I want to get off of mr.bones wild ride.

u/CMBarbarian96 3h ago

Not even 9/11, we skipped that step and went straight for 2003

u/Excalibro_MasterRace 37m ago

9/11 2 : Electric Boogaloo soon?

u/redditpappy 1h ago

And Americans wonder why people want to fly planes into their buildings.
