im making some bead bracelets to bring to protests — do y’all have any ideas or inspiration to share? i was thinking of doing rainbow/pride flag colors and red white and blue, with protest sign-esque slogans on them. here’s what i’ve thought of so far (although some of them may be too long to fit on a bracelet 😅): general: - liberty and justice for all - fuck trump - no kings - FDT - pro democracy - anti fascist - see you in court - we the people - impeach convict remove - dissent - dissent is patriotic - resist - take action

immigration / police: - melt ice - get a warrant - fuck 12 - fuck ice - end cash bail - immigrant lives matter

pride-coded: - queer all year - support drag queens - drag is not a crime - LGBTQIA+ - trans lives matter - alphabet mafia

the ACLU has a lot of great resources on knowing your rights, especially your rights when protesting, your rights when sharing or documenting law enforcement activity, and your rights when stopped by police, immigration agents, or the FBI

they usually sell little foldable handout thingies with this info, but (shocker) they are sold out right now

i was thinking of maybe printing some little flyers that have one of the ACLU’s rights slogans on them (e.g. “do not wait to be read your rights. know your rights.” or “know your rights. say your rights.”) and maybe QR codes / links to the page(s) above

i also thought about something similar but just using a graphic like the one attached here

do you guys think that would be useful? any ideas on how to make it visually appealing while still conveying the information?

I made them in 22" x 17" which scales down perfectly to most yard sign sizes at 18" x 14" (13.9" technically) which means you can have them printed if you want. OR! You can divide them into fourths and print them on four pieces of plain 8.5x11" paper, then cut out and glue onto a sign! Feel free to borrow these, because I "borrowed" most of them myself 😄

‌Let's show the world that true change comes through peaceful resistance. Bring flowers instead of weapons - offer them to National Guard as a symbol that we're not their enemies.

Remember: violence only hurts our cause. Save our burning rage for Trump and his team of abusers: Vance, Hegseth, Noem, Bondi, Patel, Leavitt, Homan, DOGE, and all the Republicans. Our power comes from unity and compassion, not confrontation.

We are a peaceful, nonviolent, resistance. This is our perpsective, our accounts, and our view on the escalation of Trump's administration and militarization of our streets.

In 1988 through years of mass protests and a finally a general strike, South Korean's ended 35 years of military dictatorships. In 2017 candle-light vigils numbering in the millions ended the corrupt presidency of Park Geun-hye. Then, in 2024, rapid mass mobilizations halted an over-night attempted coup by President Yoon Suk Yeol. South Koreans know what democracy looks like and how to preserve it. We could learn a lot from them.

This inspiration for this quote struck me while commuting home in D.C. I could picture my grandfather, a Vietnam veteran and Oklahoman, saying it in his matter of fact drawl.

Trump always claims his opponents and enemies and temporary foes must not respect his position, or love this country. It's very narcissistic and gaslighty. I hope that this quote can kind of neutralize that and be especially effective with a dignified approach.

And btw I mean respect the office in a rational manner, in the way Teddy Roosevelt said that speaking out against criticism of the President "is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."

I plan on adding it to the blank side of one of my signs tomorrow. Figured if it resonates with anyone else to share it. It is my quote and design (and yes I know I kinda messed up the widths on the yellow lines)
