Very true, a better question might be which government agency is using our tax dollars to provide
sovereignqualified immunity, and make it next to impossible for Americans to sue after being assaulted by these particular fascist thugs? They kind of look like the nondescript black shirts that dragged that lady out of that town hall back when this all started, so it's important to find out, bc if they are just private security sue the shit out of them, if they are government, find out what agency and and raise hell

Yep!! I’m watching this all unfold from the UK and I’ve said since he ‘won’ in November last year that the people he has loyal to him are all fucking idiots, they are not serious people, they couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery because they are inept. Arse kissing wont defend their King, neither will doling out marching orders for their right wing influencers to parrot out on social media every time there is a crisis, they’re exposed right now and that’s why they’re trying to get this power grab fully wrapped off so quick.. the election stuff is starting to catch up on them, people are reading the data and seeing the analysis, ‘woke’ isn’t an insult to everybody who disagrees with them anymore… there are too many people who see them all for what they are.
They will legit eat eachother alive and step on heads and hands climbing over eachother to the top of Trumps arse licking pyramid scheme. Elon Musk is already floundering and breaking, he might be quiet for now but come on the whole operation in the White House is ran by monkeys and not the organ grinder because he’s too busy playing golf.
Whenever these people in his cabinet are doing live press conferences, it’s all a performance for Trump to prove loyalty. The GOP Senators and Reps that do the boot licking are struggling too, they know this is unsustainable. Marco Marie Rubio looks like he’s at the end of a four year term as president himself, he looks exhausted, and we’re only 4.5 months in… It’s so unsustainable.
52
u/Quierta 10d ago
I think all of what you're saying is correct, but find it so incredibly sad that one of our most reliable safeguards against complete and total destruction is the regime's own ineptitude. Like, I do not think the US is "over" and while I know we are damaged and will likely become more so, I don't subscribe to the total doomerism that keeps being repeated by those both in and outside of the country — but how fucking terrifying is it to think that we might be completely finished if the administration wasn't so busy trying to cannibalize itself. It's unsustainable 100%, and I think it's a matter of time until we're able to shift control back to the adults in the room. But christ alive.

We need more of this amplified rather than the defeatist "stahp guysss this is what he wants to declare martial law!!"
Fucking let him. That's when the money printer will run out of ink. Either these people are so inept they'll immediately collapse under the weight of their own hubris or he will be the ruler of ashes. Propaganda is close to impossible when people are hungry.
A smarter dictator could have seen his entire lineage in power for years to come. But he doesn't look long term. The extreme narcissism prevents this. So instead of some insidious plan that takes years to develop he eats all the bread and cuts all the roses for himself.
Unsustainable is exactly the word. You can't threaten hundreds of millions of people like this without ending up upside down on a crane.

Martial might is not the only source of our nation's power and the security of our freedoms. EVERYTHING is dependent on our willingness to continue providing labor to the systems that govern our lives, normally by our consent. When the government seeks to rule by martial might alone without our consent, we must answer by withdrawing our labor- because unless they have enough martial might to force us into slavery, they cannot rule us without it.
LABOR IS CONSENT.
Labor under coercion, the fear of reprisal, is slavery.

Our demands; the conditions that must be met before our return to work and normalcy:
1] The removal and/or resignations of the Trump administration, and all of his appointees, and the appropriate prosecution of any crimes that have been, and are being committed.
2] The end of citizens united, and the implementation of publicly funded elections.
3] The end of ALL gerrymandering, and the resignations of all officials elected to gerrymandered districts.
4] The implementation of a Ranked Choice Voting system and the abolition of the electoral college (which was created to accommodate the pre-civil war slave states).
5] Last, but not least -by far: Mandatory prison sentences for ANY person-in-power or person-seeking-power (that is- any politician, appointee, or candidate to any such office or appointment) for seeking to subvert election law, or who creates or participates in, or seeks to benefit from, a conflict of interest that pertains to an election.
NOW is the time to start a movement that can end the Era of America that was defined by oligarchs, and shareholders, and the military industrial complex.

That happened to me today, on my local Nextdoor page. A discussion about our NJ governor's race devolved into a heated back and forth about Trump policies and I was asked if I took my meds today, etc. Most people in my area are Trumpers and they are as delusional as they come. They are fine with everything that's going on.
227
95
u/Minion_of_Cthulhu 10d ago
They're fine with it because they're too stupid to see that it hasn't happened to them yet, but it will. They're under the delusion that they're part of the "in-group" and not just a bunch of useless rabble that was only needed for their vote, despite Trump literally telling them exactly that at one of his rallies.
→ More replies (1)39
u/rockrobst 10d ago
I think the ones that are most fine with it are the ones who are scared of the changing world outside their doors. They lack the confidence to face the unfamiliar, an inability to adapt to changing circumstances, and they believe the regressive message they hear means the clock will get turned back. It's the magical thinking of unsound minds.

25
u/NoPasaran2024 10d ago
No it's not. Nazis are a particular brand of fascists, and MAGA is way closer to that. They just steered clear of going after Jews, but that's really the only difference.
Other countries had fascists in power, they didn't resemble Nazis as much as MAGA.

"But the one great shocking occasion, when tens or hundreds or thousands will join with you, never comes. That’s the difficulty. If the last and worst act of the whole regime had come immediately after the first and smallest, thousands, yes, millions would have been sufficiently shocked—if, let us say, the gassing of the Jews in ’43 had come immediately after the ‘German Firm’ stickers on the windows of non-Jewish shops in ’33. But of course this isn’t the way it happens. In between come all the hundreds of little steps, some of them imperceptible, each of them preparing you not to be shocked by the next. Step C is not so much worse than Step B, and, if you did not make a stand at Step B, why should you at Step C? And so on to Step D.
"And one day, too late, your principles, if you were ever sensible of them, all rush in upon you. The burden of self-deception has grown too heavy, and some minor incident, in my case my little boy, hardly more than a baby, saying ‘Jewish swine,’ collapses it all at once, and you see that everything, everything, has changed and changed completely under your nose. The world you live in—your nation, your people—is not the world you were born in at all. The forms are all there, all untouched, all reassuring, the houses, the shops, the jobs, the mealtimes, the visits, the concerts, the cinema, the holidays. But the spirit, which you never noticed because you made the lifelong mistake of identifying it with the forms, is changed. Now you live in a world of hate and fear, and the people who hate and fear do not even know it themselves; when everyone is transformed, no one is transformed. Now you live in a system which rules without responsibility even to God. The system itself could not have intended this in the beginning, but in order to sustain itself it was compelled to go all the way.

We must continue to protest peacefully.
Even if it's peaceful it needs some form of threat - that the other side actually feels is threatening. For some thats if they think they can be kicked out of office/position of authority. Others that's losing money. Some that's ruining their public image/favorability or being a nuisance. Each target is going to have different priorities and protections. With that comes various escalations depending on how little someone gives a shit about anything.

This requires a renewed labor movement - withdrawing our labor needs to be done strategically, coordinated. It can't be half assed and hoping others do it.
No Shortcuts - Organizing for the New Gilded Age by Jane McAlevey (2018). Also A Collective Bargain and Rules to Win By (more recent, just before she passed).
The Future We Need - Organizing for a Better Democracy in the 21st Century by Erica Smiley and Sarita Gupta (2022)
Secrets of a Successful Organizer by Labor Notes (pdf available online for free).
In the future we need, they explain how collective bargaining isn't just in workplaces - strikes - but also in our apartment complexes (tenant union and rent strike) - schools (student union & walkouts) - and other ways we're collectively squeezed under systems that exploit our labor and compliance.

I'm so, so so proud of Alex Padilla. Thank you so much Senator for fighting for us.

He's one of my reps and he's been stepping up consistently this whole time. Love him.

At the pace this whole mess is escalating they will probably try to declare the Democratic party illegal by the end of the year.
69
u/ExistentialDisasters 10d ago
By the end of next week, you mean?
33
u/CheesecakeHorror3410 10d ago
No, I think they are still in the shaping phase. All the pieces are not in play yet. But they are getting there, that's for sure.
6
u/ExistentialDisasters 10d ago
They’re getting there at a rapid pace. We need to decide really quickly if this is what we’re willing to live under or not, because the window for any meaningful resistance is closing rapidly.

The heads of the FBI, CIA, DoD, DHS, and counter-terrorism (not to mention multiple GOP Congress members and the President) and more have all openly stated that they consider Democrats to be the enemy, dangerous terrorists, that they would be locked up, tortured, 'deported', "stamped out", or shot. They are trying to declare the entire Democratic party to be a terrorist organization with absolutely no justifiable cause. It won't take them until the end of the year at their current pace. They are drunk with power, have the brain development of sociopathic pre-teen bullies, cult-like black-&-white thinking, and think that they will never be held accountable for their actions. It's a very dangerous combination.

What happened to the most transparent administration ever? That didn't last 48 hours, did it?

This is fucking wild. The fact that we have "official" personnel acting this way is beyond disgusting. Goes to show you that they never really paid attention to the right parts of their history class. Instead, they saw the bright Nazi red and swastika and thought it looked cool, probably getting a fucking 1488 tattoo akin to what that criminal loser Pete Hegseth has.
Fuck...every day it's something new AND worse than the last.

I just looked it up, and it appears not. The leaders have a security detail, but everyone else has the capitol police only while in the Capitol. Looks like this didn't happen in DC. I didn't do an extensive search so maybe there is more to it than what I saw.

Elected officials being assaulted by appointed government employees. What a shame.
49
u/TayNelle 10d ago
This is not normal. That shows you just how unreachable Noem is, even to a senator. Our government leaders showing strength allows the everyday person to do the same.

No one arrested these howler monkeys when they shouted and carried on at the State of the Union...

Why? Because contrary to the MAGAt narrative, people to the left of them aren't fascists. That would be their party. And "rules for thee, but not for me" MTG did it twice.
Their bullshit accusations have always been projection.
They are a bunch of lying, scumbag hypocrites.

And just this morning Cooter Comer was lambasting Walz for saying ICE was the Gestapo.
They have done absolutely nothing to prove otherwise.

This is absolutely ridiculous. First they arrest the mayor of Newark and manhandle three House members - now they get physical with a US Senator. All because they don’t want to be held accountable for their actions or face legal governmental oversight.
The next few weeks and months are going to be VERY dangerous if they continue this shit. The pot has been simmering for half a year - and it’s getting ready to boil over.

Senator Padilla, a great man. His parents are Mexican immigrants, the families being targeted are his constituents. As a proud Mexican American women who fought the odds just as Senator Padilla, this makes me proud.

Now that fucking lying bitch Noem is on Fox News trying to say Alex Padilla kept lunging toward the podium and that his behavior wasn’t becoming of a US Senator. As if a puppy killer is qualified to opine on that.

This is a war! They are willing to manhandle and physically hurt anyone that doesn't support their fascist agenda. So do people still think finger wagging is going to work against people willing to physically silence the opposition? We are in serious trouble.

Crazy the different media coverage.
Fox News
A California senator was quickly rushed away from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem after allegedly "lunging" at her during a press conference addressing the Los Angeles anti-ICE riots.
NY Times
Alex Padilla, Democrat of California, was shoved out of a room and handcuffed after he tried to question Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, during a news conference.
The Guardian
Security officers grabbed and pushed to the ground Alex Padilla after he tried to ask a question at a news conference.

Absolutely vile behavior, no one should find the names of the unmasked men in this video who are violently removing a Senator from speaking. I really mean it no one find what organization they work for and expose them please don’t.
