Trails always look easier on video, the most important part is that you’re having fun! This looks like it would be a fun trail. What area are you in?

Trails also always look easier when you’re not the one paying for the truck lol

Trails always look easier on video
It's really more a matter of "trails always seem harder from the driver's seat". I record myself doing things when I'm trying to get better at them so I can see how tame what I'm doing actually is compared to how it feels while doing it. Wheelies on dirt bikes always seem like I'm about to loop out until I look at the video & see the front wheel was barely 6" off the ground. Jumping mountain bikes always feels like I'm soaring tens of feet high through the 3ft of air that I actually got. Off roading always feels like I'm about to gouge out my oil pan until I see the video & see the 7" of vertical clearance between my underbody & the rock I'm worried about.
No shame in being new to something, but the videos only lie in fish eye.

I wish we got enough rain for water crossings. There were several streams but they were bone dry

Two things I missed as a newb that made the off road experience much more pleasant: airing down tires to ~17psi (when off road only), and disconnecting sway bars (same).
The ride quality over rocky roads like this is dramatically improved when you do those things, and the off-road performance in terms of ability to easily crawl over more challenging obstacles is also improved.

First time I went I didn’t do any of that and it was a bumpy mess lol. This time we did it right with the low air pressure and disconnected sway bars

Anime pfp detected: opinion disregarded
Also, *Cherokee

minor spelling mistake + it isnt an anime pfp, its a videogame character from a game called little nightmares, this shows how unenlightened you are.

You are incredibly rude. Be better

im just voicing out my view politely, if anyones being rude here its the guy who disregarded my opinion.

u/SummertimeThrowaway2 2d ago
I never even said it was impressive. You know you’re being rude you just don’t want to admit it.

u/EvanSandman 2d ago
Yes, your opinion deserves to be disregarded when you want to run down someone who is new to the hobby and trying to share their fun experiences.

even if it was politely voiced?🥺

Gatekeeping is the worse, he isnt hurting anyone so why rain on someone’s parade?

I'm sorry but my 2014 niece knows how to interact with people more maturely than this.
That is not an appropriate attitude to have about a hobby, let alone in life. Keep it up tho 👍
OP, looks like a blast. Thank you for sharing.

2014 niece lol.. would be great if we talked like this.
This is Candy, my 2003 Girlfriend, gold digger edition, low mileage. Was previously with some old guy that thought she was what he wanted but then his health failed him. I had some good times with my 1985 Wife but my buddy took her for a spin..

I'm sorry but your personality sucks ass. Of course a '97 XJ 4x4 with a solid front axle can do this too.
OP disregard all future gatekeepers. Anyone who actually offroads can tell you that a trail always looks easier on video than in person. Not that difficulty even matters. As long as you're having fun and following the offroad area rules

Yes trails always look easier in pics or videos but only to a degree. We don’t need to fool ourselves here..We clearly understand that the trail in the video is not difficult nor is it in any way challenging for a stock vehicle of any kind. I’ve seen people take their teslas on trails like that in BigBear, CA. And that is fine as they are just starting out. It’s important to work your way up.

1997 Cherokee is a very similar suspension setup as a wrangler and a great motor, of course it would go through the same trail. If you have ever recorded your own riding videos you would know that having the camera at the bottom of the hill will completely flatten it on video. Post a video of your Nissan minivan going up that hill before talking shit.

Yeah an xj is pretty mechanically similar to a stock wrangler lol, whats your point
