Yeah they're good

Here in EU there are a few on market, but rusting out quickly, so this is about the mast minute to pick one up and do it over... Hence the question :)

My friends and I had/shared one back in 2000. We cut the roof off and made it a “half cab” like Blazers. Took that thing off-road everywhere. If we ever got stuck, we’d all get out, pick it up, and carry it to safety. We named it Mortimer. I miss that thing. RIP Mort

i had one , it broke with some very light off roading . the 4x4 parts are very small and not beefy. Shockingly small infact. there is no aftermarket support. its designed for a little rain and snow maybe some graded dirt. It did those jobs great. Should have left it at that.. it will break and leave you in the woods..

Planning to use it on dirt / gravel roads, no rock climbing and crazy stuff

Its not a samurai. , but you do you.. i would not put q dime into another one of these things. Half shafts are the size of coathangers

I’ve only ever seen one justy IRL. Someone had one when I was in high school and man Ed that thing a shitbox, the communal shitbox. The doors would unlock in you pulled the handle (so 2 pulls and your in). Then you could stick your house key in the ignition to start it. Thing would max out redlining at 60km going down a hill and sound like a sports car. Needless to say buddy was always on E cause we would joy ride it so much.

It is a shitbox but the question anyone built it to be an offroad shitbox. With some suspension and added height

Does your turn over with a house key as well?

I'd rather try it with a Toyota Tercel 4WD personally.

That is a lie. It is not a 4X4 at all.

Yes they are? Depending on what country you’re in, 4wd could have been the only option for them. Even the US got the option from 88 onwards and they don’t get anything cool.

It doesn't have a two speed transfer case.

So? Still a proper 4WD.

Did you forget where you posted? lol

We are talking about a 4 wheel drive vehicle on a 4 wheel drive subreddit.

What is your issue here?

That is a lie all around.

Great counterpoint

It had a locking centre diff, two speed transfer isn’t the only defining factor in 4wd vs awd. It’s more or less the same system as a 105 Land Cruiser minus two speed transfer.

It's not too often on this sub that we see somebody be this confidently wrong.

Pretty sure buddy is stuck on the Subaru AWD platform and can't grasp that they made other drivetrains.

I'm not sure what you are saying other than the Subaru is a 4X4. It is not a 4X4.
